Set in the same world populated by Yokai, demon spirits with supernatural powers - Wentz Eiji of WaT reprises his role as half-human, half-yokai hero Kitaro, who takes it upon himself to resolve the problems that arise when human and Yokai collide in modern-day Japan. This time Kitaro and his friends are investigating a series of mysterious disappearances. They stumble upon a yokai conspiracy and a cursed cycle that dates back 1000 years.

Toyoko doesn't know how to love her daughter Terue and subjects the latter to physical abuse when she was a child. As a result, Terue was hungry for love but didn't know how to be loved. Years later, Terue grows up and has a daughter Migusa who is in senior high school when she reunites with her brother Takenori who was separated from her at birth. Due to the reunion, memories of her miserable childhood come flooding back. With the support of Migusa, Terue decides to head to Taiwan to look for her late father's grave and finds out the truth behind her mother's behaviour after meeting Toyoko there.

The three sisters are Akari Kawamoto, Hinata Kawamoto, and Momo Kawamoto. This is his first meeting with someone outside of the shogi world in many years. Having meals with the Kawamoto family brings warm feelings to Rei Kiriyama. As Rei Kiriyama continues his shogi career, his interactions with his neighbors allow him to grow as a shogi player and as a person.

While in real life he has to go to the hospital and change his wife’s diaper after work, Eun-joo’s existence itself feels like a delight compared to his pitiful existence. Director Im Kwon-taek has directed several films that keenly look into human instinct, and Revivre is another one of them. The will to live, sexual instincts, the light and the darkness of life and fear and desperation about death are illustrated on the screen among other contradictory values, delivering the great director’s wisdom and understanding.
