Hotshot filmmaker Pang Ho Cheung enlists his Love in the Buff leading man Shawn Yue to star in his latest production, Lacuna, opposite Zhang Jingchu (Flirting Scholar 2) as two strangers out to solve the mystery of what happened during their drunken night together. Helmed by Pang's writer partners Derek Tsang and Jimmy Wan (Lover's Discourse), the stylish urban rom-com is the anticipated theatrical feature in Pang's "4+1 Project" to nurture new directors, which also features other actors from the online shorts including Lawrence Chou, Zhu Yuchen, and singer Yoga Lin. One early morning, Shen Wei (Shawn Yue) and Tong Xin (Zhang Jingchu) are shocked as they wake up in bed together in a furniture mall, not knowing each other and without a clue why they are even there. Out of embarrassment, the two quickly flee the scene and go their separate ways. Xin realizes that the big stash of cash her boss entrusted to her is missing. Meanwhile, Wei has lost the company car and become the laughing stock of his co-workers when photos of his shenanigans begin spreading online. In the absence of their parents, Johnny (15) and Jennifer (17) are being brought up by their "big sister" Tanya, an overdressed transvestite who eats and smokes too much and causes both kids endless embarrassment. Set in the 1920's, during the Japanese occupation of South Korea, Lee Jung Chool was once a member of the Korean independence movement, but he now works as a police officer for Japan. He receives an order to take down the Korean independence group the Righteous Brotherhood.

Lee Jung Chool introduces himself to art dealer Kim Woo-Jin (Gong Yoo) and pretends to be interested in his Korean artworks. In actuality, Kim Woo-Jin is the regional leader of the Righteous Brotherhood. Both of these men are well aware of each other's true identities and intentions, but get closer to each other seeking out more information.

The Righteous Brotherhood learn there are spies within their group and attempt to clamp down on the moles. Soon, the identities of Righteous Brotherhood members are leaked and they flee to Shanghai, China. Meanwhile, Lee Jung-Chool and Japanese police officer Hashimoto (Um Tae-Goo) lead forces to Shanghai, China. There, members of the Righteous Brotherhood decide to acquire explosive for an attack on the Japanese government in Korea.
