A supernatural-themed detective series – however the ‘supernatural’ won’t be the traditional ghosts and spirits-theme that audiences are used to seeing. Rather, the drama uses ‘super’ scientific concepts as well as realistic methods to investigate a variety of mysterious, unusual cases. The series will revolve around the main character Hung Gei Yuen -- a former high-ranking police inspector who, after being traumatized by the mysterious death of his son, acquires the hidden ability to capture and enter other people’s subconscious, as he deeply believes that his son was actually murdered in the ‘inner confines of the subconscious’! At the same time, he starts to display signs of having a split personality and works hard to study about the ‘hidden subconscious’ in the hopes of one day finding his son’s killer.

Each main character in this series will have some sort of ‘hidden ability’ that makes them different from other people. Even though each of them will have a ‘regrettable flaw’ and perhaps even be viewed by society as being ‘abnormal’ or ‘weird’, this does not affect their self-esteem. In fact, they are able to turn this ‘regrettable flaw’ into a ‘hidden ability’ and use it to help them solve many mysterious cases.

Koo Fung's twin brother Koo Yim Yeung (Ng Man Tat) had turned evil after practising a martial art called "Yuk Liu Sun Gong" that will make a man turn woman-like. All the good clans conspire to destroy this major evil sect which is headed by Koo Yim Yeung. Koo Fung's teacher (Kwan Hoi San) has decided to learn a martial art, in order to fend against Koo Yim Yeung, that will make the person very powerful, but will cause the person to die very soon after. However, during the attempt, Duen Hoi accidentally kills a fellow martial brother and in trying to hide his own blunder, Duen Hoi accuses Koo Fung of the murder. Koo Fung is chased down a mountain cliff by his clan and believed to have died. Duen Hoi, in his guilt, confesses under pressure to his master and took in Koo Fung's infant son, Koo Yuk Lau (Francis Ng), to raise as his own. Duen Fei (Stephen Chow), his real son, grows up to be a business-wise person but has no interests whatsoever in learning martial arts. He gets into a lot of trouble hanging around in the streets and is admonished by his father all the time. Koo Yuk Lau, on the other hand, is like a male prodigy--great wit, great martial arts, and leadership potential all in a package. Trouble begins to stir of course when he finds out who his real father is and when Koo Yim Yeung returns to cause more ruckus

He also decides to go to Akabane to find himself.

Takayuki Yamada first contacts director Nobuhiro Yamashita and asks him to film him in Akabane. He then makes an appointment to meet manga writer Toru Seino (writer and main character in "Uhyo! Tokyo-to Kita-ku Akabane”) in Akabane. Takayuki Yamada goes on to meet other people from the manga and also interacts with his acting friends Gou Ayano, Kyosuke Yabe, director Hitoshi One, musician Kazuya Yoshii and others.
