Ushijima runs Kaukau Fiance, a black market lending agency which scourges its clients with interest rates as high as 50% for 10 days. Ushijima chases down his debtors, who normally come from the bottom of society, with ruthless efficacy.

In 1987, university student & pro-democracy movement member Park Jong-chul is captured by the police. He is then tortured to death. The police and government try to cover up the case of Park Jong-Chul, but the media and university students try to reveal the truth.

Raj is a happy and free-spirited Indian-American bachelor who visits his ancestral homeland in Mumbai, to attend his cousin's wedding. Once in India, he finds himself pushed towards marriage by his overzealous uncle (Satish Shah). His uncle's employee, Namrata (Aishwarya Rai) chaperones Raj on a series of set-ups/dates, all of which he deliberately sabotages. During the course of the wedding ceremonies, Raj discovers that he is falling for Namrata.
