Raised in a patriarchal environment, Lik, who has very old-fashioned thinking, believes that women cannot become sushi chefs. He believes that a woman should be staying at home, cooking, serving their husbands and caring for the children. Ida on the other hand, is a very strong-willed modern Chinese woman. Through her determination, confidence and persistence, she proves her skills to him. Their frequent conflict and arguments over the rights and roles of women and Lik's eventual realization that women can indeed accomplish greater accomplishments than men show the gradual progression of value changes.

    The winter for third-year university students is the crossroads in their lives. The season where they are confronted with life choices. It is a season that students cannot disregard. Although she likes the sea, she has given up on her dream of oceanographic research and is about to obey her parents (Sakai Maki, Yajima Kenichi) and get a job with their connections. At that moment, she unexpectedly meets students of Kaiyo University and they have to work together for a time at an aquarium near the sea. The sight of them pursuing their own dreams starts to influence Aoi little by little and their own lives also start to change too. Nagata Taku (Yamazaki Kento), Aoi’s childhood friend who has been wholeheartedly in love with her; Yamauchi Kota (Kubota Masataka), the senior whom Aoi admires; the proud Saeki Yuka (Narumi Riko) who is Kota’s ex-girlfriend; Serizawa Ryo (Asaka Kodai) who has something like love for Yuka; Niwa Reiko (Seino Nana) who cannot break off her affair with a married university old boy, Ichinose Hisashi (Ozawa Kazuhiro); Iino Sosuke (Yamoto Yuma) who has given up on his dream because of his parents’ debts. And then, there is the enigmatic photographer, Kondo Shunji (Higashide Masahiro) who passes by Aoi. While the eight of them spend time together, love and friendship gets entwined.
