The 'W' Files (衛斯理) is a 2003 Hong Kong fantasy-adventure-mystery television period drama serial based on Ni Kuang's novel series Wisely, starring Gallen Lo as Wisely. The series was first broadcast on TVB in Hong Kong from 2 June to 11 July 2003. The 30-episodes long series contains a total of eight different stories, set in China in the 1930s. In the 1930s, Wisely returns to China from his overseas studies and runs a detective agency in Shanghai to investigate paranormal events. He meets a doctor named Pak So and she becomes his love interest, but they encounter several trials and tribulations to test their love before they finally get together. The series is divided into eight different stories, with Wisely and his team setting off to investigate and crack each mystery case. I have watched this series a few times and I still like it! This version of Wisely is set in 1930s Shanghai, and consist of a few stories. I like the part where all the stories or characters seem intertwined with each other and then it all comes full circle and comes to an end on the last story which connects to the beginning scene. In this version, Wisely (Gallen Lo) is the rich heir to a successful pawnshop business, which he has no interest to run, so let one of his best friends Cheung Ching (Power Chan) to manage the pawnshop together with a few assistants. Wisely himself owns a detective agency together with his other best friend, the Sherlock Holmes dress-a-like Siu Kwok (Evergreen Mak) and his secretary Mei Sin (Fiona Yuen), who is also the niece of Wisely’s butler Lao Choi (Chun Wong). Wisely lives in his big family home together with Lao Choi, his housekeeper Sister Foon (Ha Ping) who has dementia, and his cousin Hung Hung (Tavia Yeung).

Natda and Lookkaew, two very different women, got involved with each other because of a car accident. Rachawadee, Lookkaew's mother, had Dr. Goson do plastic surgery on Dada to make her look like Lookkaew. Dada wakes up with a new face, but she has amnesia. And also finds out she has a fiance, Ratt, who is angry that the real Lookkaew had cheated on him. Meanwhile, there are people trying to find out the truth.

Akiho Takeda (Eikura Nana) is assigned to #3 investigation team for The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. On her first day at work, a burglary takes place at a jewelry store in Shibuya. The case though is taken by the #1 investigation team which Akiho hoped to join. Nevertheless, Akiho goes secretly to the jewelry store where the theft took place. There she sees a man with piercing eyes among the onlookers. That man is veteran detective Shuichi Hagio (Takahashi Katsumi), who also works for the #3 investigation team. They become partners and work together. Later, a safe at a jewelry store in Roppongi is broken into. The safe breaking case is assigned to the #3 investigation team. Shuichi and Akiho go to the jewelry store in Roppongi. They learn that the safe was protected by a secret code and a high tech fingerprint authentication system. Stolen from the safe is the diamond called "Besu". The "Besu" is one of three diamonds that makes up the "Kuraida Family's Three Sisters". The other two diamonds are "Ani" and "Kyasari". The diamond "Ani" was stolen from the jewelry store in Shibuya, that occurred a few days earlier. Several people believe the two diamond thefts were done by the same person(s), but Akiho mentions the techniques used by thieves are different. Domoto Tsuyoshi plays the lead character Tenma who has inherited the power to get into contact with spirits but is afraid of his ability to do that. Out of no choice, he has to take on the position of the president of an exorcism company. Kawaguchi Haruna and Minagawa Sarutoki will be Tenma's assistants in his "ghost-busting" missions. Serina will play an elder woman in the neighbourhood who chases Tenma around while Sato Jiro plays Tenma's late father who communicates with Tenma through his dreams.
