A story set in the Tang Dynasty revolving around Luo Qiuchi, who aspires to be a great poet. He entered the Zhu Xiu Academy to further his studies, where he meets the number one student there, Fu Yuanzhi. The two have different poetry styles, but in the end Luo Qiuzi managed to defeat Fu Yuanzhi in a competition with the "Flying Flowers Order" poem. Thus, he was able to lead the other students with a more "simple" poetry style. Through a series of events events, Luo Qiuchi and the rest of the students were able to mature. They emerged victory in the acdemic exchange between the students of An Nan and Da Tang kingdoms. In the end, Luo Qiuchi emerged as the top scholar in the national entrance examinations, thus contributing to the country.

Set in the 5 dynasties and 10 kingdoms period, Yuan Yue Zheng could have led a carefree and happy life.... if she did not love the ambitious Eldest Prince Feng Lin. Meanwhile, Feng Lin's younger brother, the Crown Prince Feng Xun is deeply in love with Yue Zheng. However, Yue Zheng does not know that Feng Lin is secretly in love with General Du's daughter Du Si Yu or that he is planning to take his brother's position to become the next King. When Yuan Lin decides to use Yue Zheng to help him get the throne through a marriage alliance, Yue Zheng is overjoyed and marries him. Yuan Lin did not care for Yue Zheng at all initially but slowly falls in love with her after the countless times she sacrifices herself to help him. But despite his pure intentions towards her now, Yuan Li's past actions and motives come back to haunt him, causing Yue Zheng to misunderstand him. It tells a family of three generations of women who stay true to their intentions to serve the neighborhood from the early days of the liberation to the present. Their stories capture the face of youth in each period to showcase the Hutong Culture in Beijing.

Tian Zao has been engaged in grassroots work since the early days of liberation. She eventually becomes a leader of the resident's committee and serves the people for 70 years. She participated in catching spies, curbing illiteracy and led the masses to donate handicrafts to the volunteer army.

During the era of reform, she encouraged her daughter (Elvira Cai) to succeed her line of work. Tian Zao did not leave her post even after she retired. When she reached the age of 90, her granddaughter has become the new leader of the resident's committee.

Because of her looks, Liu has been bullied her whole life. In order to make friends in university and to escape the contempt of those who see her looks as unworthy of her dreams, Liu decides to pursue plastic surgery. Following her makeover, she meets Faye, an incredible natural beauty who becomes her first friend.

Fate, however, doesn't seem to be on her side. She runs into Guy, a handsome guy who recognises Liu from middle school and warns her to be wary, to keep her distance from Faye. This causes Liu to dislike Guy even more, so different from Saint, a graduate student and her neighbour who's always helping and encouraging her.

When an incident forces Liu to reveal to everyone that her entire face has had work, the people around her, including people she saw as her friends, begin to badmouth her and she begins to think that she'll never be enough.
