When a slacker city kid Lee Shi Kyung (Kai) and his sister, Lee Shi Young (Lee Ye Hyun) are suddenly transferred to a high school in the countryside, they have trouble adjusting to their strange new surroundings. But not without the help of a new friends, Park Ga Ram (Baek Chul Min), the town’s golden boy, and a mysterious girl, Kim Bom (Kim Jin Kyung).

A surrogate mother gives birth to twins. She keeps Liang Xiao Feng and gives away Zhuang Fei Yang who grows up in a wealthy family. Zhuang Fei Yang is the heiress of Formosa Inc. a company owned by her dad and CEO Peter. When her father dies, Peter tries to kill the beautiful heiress. Fortunately, she survives without Peter knowing and undergoes plastic surgery that makes her face look completely different.

This is the story of God bringing two unlikely people from different parts of the world together. Plapol, a half Korean-half Thai man who grew up in Korea his whole life but chose to escape to Thailand sees his new step-mother as just another gold digger after his dad's wealth. He pretty much thinks that of all women because his mother disappeared from his life since divorcing his dad when he was young. With hatred for his step-mother, Plapol decided to go to Thailand to find his mother.

While in Thailand, Plapol goes to a bar and meets a young woman named Pantawan, a sexy singer who's popular among the men there. He views her in the same light as the other women he has come across in his life. However, Pantawan is not that type of woman and doesn't take insult from anyone especially from a misogynistic man like him. The two always get in a fight but eventually they came to an understanding and fell in love. But after love blossomed, all is not rosy for Plapol and Pantawan because of one truth that gets revealed: Pantawan's mother is Plapol's new step-mother.

In June 1945 (Showa 20), Yamauchi Fusako (Horikita Maki) goes alone to Manchuria where her husband, Setsuo (Narimiya Hiroki), a second lieutenant of the Kwantung Army, is based. At that time, 200,000 Japanese had settled in Manchuria, a Japanese occupied territory, as settler communities. Fujita Hideo’s (Kunimura Jun) family worked hard to clear the wilderness, but the Soviets are lying in wait for an invasion of Manchuria from the North. Fusako is safely reunited with her husband at the headquarters of the Kwantung Army’s Fifth Training Squadron in Manchuria’s Dahushan. Setsuo also takes good care of his beloved wife, but his position is an instructor to the young soldiers who will eventually carry out suicide attacks. He wonders if he should have summoned her and speaks of these mixed feelings to his commanding officer, Michiba Kazuo (Sugimoto Tetta), a first lieutenant. Michiba is concerned about Setsuo’s attempts to cherish his wife before the coming showdown on homeland. Fusako learns about life in Manchuria from Michiba’s wife, Etsu (Hada Michiko). In comparison to the interior, it not only had abundant food such as vegetables and rice, but also no air raids. Fusako’s welcome party and a celebratory party for an engaged couple, Setsuo’s colleague, Yuasa Tetsuo (Horii Arata), and Inoue Hana (Taketomi Seika), is held at night. Nishimura Tsuyoshi (Yashima Norito), Koguma Isamu (Arakawa Yoshiyoshi), Kinoshita Tatsuo (Miura Ryosuke) and other instructors drink together and the young soldiers simply stuff themselves with the food of Fusako and others. Fusako is happy to live together with Setsuo for the first time since they married that she seemingly forgets about the war. However, the village near the border where Fujita’s settler community lives, is finally invaded by the Soviet Army. They have to abandon the fields that they had struggled to cultivate and seek refuge in Dahushan. Then, the Kwantung Army also gives orders for sorties at last. Lee Hyun is a university freshman. He is cheerful, and optimistic, and has never really experienced any form of emotional hurt or heartbreak. His university days start with a bang when he sees and immediately falls for Kim An, a young tutor in the same department where Lee Hyun is studying. Lee Hyun starts following Kim An around like a puppy, pestering the cold and aloof young tutor with questions.
