First-year students draw lots to determine their peer mentors and, by a stroke of fate, Arm lands himself in the exclusive circle of "Perfect 10 Liners," a group comprising extraordinary students from various years, with Yipun as his second-year peer mentor. Yipun entrusts him with the formidable task of managing the Engineer Cute Boy page, a widely popular online platform. Despite his reluctance, Arm performs admirably as the page's administrator. In response to many fan requests, he uploads a photo of third-year civil engineering student Arc, unaware of the prohibition against doing so. Not knowing the admin's identity, Arc sends a harsh message demanding the photo's deletion. Detesting Arc's rudeness, he develops a dislike for Arc before learning that Arc is his third-year mentor. Despite his reservations, Arm finds himself interacting with Arc with some frequency, for mentorship and otherwise. What Arm doesn't know is that he's been let into Arc's inner circle because Arc was smitten with him at first sight. On his first day of university, disaster strikes Gun hard. Hapless as he is, Gun manages to break a bathroom faucet. Fortunately, a classmate comes to his rescue. Amidst the chaos, however, Gun doesn't get a look at his saviour's face, just catching a glimpse of their shoes. Eventually, he tracks the shoes to Faifa and expresses his gratitude. As they get to know each other, Gun realises it was actually Yotha, Faifa's older Irish twin who he should be thanking.

In the autumn of 1943, Suzu is helping out at the home of her grandmother Ito together with her younger sister Sumi, when her aunt rushes in. She received news that someone has come to Suzu’s house in Eba to ask for her hand in marriage. A confused Suzu hurries back home. Along the way, she meets her childhood friend Mizuhara Tetsu who has gone on to the naval academy. She thinks that Tetsu must be the person. At that moment, Hojo Shusaku and his father Entaro are waiting at the Urano residence for Suzu to come back home. Shusaku says he has met Suzu before, but she has no recollection of it. She has a hard time imagining herself as a wife, but before it all sinks in, her father Juro and mother Kiseno accept the proposal and begin preparations. Suzu’s grandmother gives her a beautiful kimono to take with her to her new home. She marries Hojo Shusaku and moves to Kure City in the middle of the Pacific War. As Japan slides into a war it cannot get out of, the townspeople go on with their “ordinary” lives. Supplies are short, and family and friends get sent to the battlefield, casting a dark cloud over war-time Hiroshima. Suzu and the Hojo family battle such anxieties as they try to live each day with positivity.

Meanwhile, Yuji Sakai, who used to work with Naoki Matsuoka, works as a reporter at a weekly magazine. He chases after the truth behind the safe that was found in Minato. Around this time, a robbery takes place. The victim of the robbery is a person who Yuji Sakai covered for the found safe story. Now, Naoki Matsuoka and Yuji Sakai meet for the first time in 10 years. A government taboo is soon revealed.
