A workplace drama that follows a manager who has been repeatedly passed over for a promotion and his new intern. They work hard to make it in the financial sector in Shanghai.

As a manager of a financial firm, Wu Ke Zhi has a keen eye for investments, but his strengths are easily overshadowed by a glaring weakness. Plerngrit, or simply Plerng (played by Mario Maurer), is the only son of Pipat and Pongpaew, who lives in Ranong and does fishing for a living. Pipat is actually the eldest son of Khun Ying Tongtraa Chatayothin, the owner of Thai Diamonds Company, or Phet Thai. Twenty years back, Pipat fell in love with Pongpaew, a poor woman who Khun Ying Tongtraa despised. Pipat was given two choices: stay with his mother or leave the house and go with Pongpaew. He chose option number two and lived a peaceful life in Ranong with his family. For twenty years, Plerng’s parents hid the truth from him. The story takes place during the chaotic times of Western Wei, where innocent citizens are often kidnapped and turned into slaves. Slave girl, Chu Qiao was thrown into a forest along with other slaves and becomes the next hunting target for the rich lords. She is saved by the Prince of Northern Wei, Yan Xun. Afterward, she is brought into a powerful family of Yu Wen and witnesses their bloody power struggle. Seeing this, she swears to take her younger sister and flee from the situation. However, she catches the attention of Yu Wen Yue and undergoes strict training while building a sense of companionship with Yan Xun. Unfortunately, Western Wei goes into battle and Yan Xun’s family is slaughtered. After that incident, Yan Xun grows ambitious and cruel to avenge for the things and the people he lost. He doubts Chu Qiao and takes advantages of her loyalty and love many times, disregarding their relationship as well as the sacrifices he will have to make for power. Disappointed with the man she once loved, Chu Qiao eventually breaks off her relationship with Yan Xun and chooses to fight with Yu Wen Yue, destroying Yan Xun’s plans of vengeance. She eventually convinces Yuwen to free the country from slavery, becoming a successful military strategist/female general in the people’s hearts.

Ishida Tetsuko is a lawyer who earnestly lives to help people. On the other hand, Kotani Natsuko is an exceptionally self-centered swindler who lives to turn people's goodwill into money. The two ladies are like opposite sides of the same coin. Because they are relatives, Tetsuko is trapped into working at Natsuko's request. Natsuko keeps getting into trouble because her tricks are always half measures and Tetsuko's role is to clean up after that. Their troubled relationship has endured for 20 years and they eventually start to become indispensable comrades to each other. While coming between Natsuko, who is outrageous yet somehow impossible to hate, and her “victims”, Tetsuko realises there is are things more important than money and winning trials. Life did not go as planned, but she could have done worse and there is value in embracing life every day.
