Yowai Konosuke is a psychiatrist and he runs his own small psychiatric clinic in a back alley in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo. He listens to his patients carefully and faces their symptoms patiently. He can identify the names of illnesses that other doctors fail to do, and he gives hope to his patients. He has a staff nurse, Amamiya Yuri, who is working in the psychiatry department for the first time. She is fascinated by the depth of the psychiatric treatments administered by Yowai Konosuke, but she is unaware of Yowai Konosuke's own tragic past.

Seike Ichiro is a popular, 43 year old politician. He has gained popularity for his impressive smile and liberal speech and behavior. He is expected to be a future prime minster candidate. He has a secretary, Suzuki Toshiya, who carefully works to guide him to the prime minister position. They look like a perfect match as a politician and his secretary, but Reporter Michiura Kanae feels something is off about the relationship of these two. She begins to investigate their past and notices the mysterious deaths that have followed Seike Ichiro during his rise in politics. Her own father's death, who was also a reporter, is somehow connected to the politician's past.

Monsters have lived sided by side with humans since the beginning of time, and "Bureau of Special Resident Affairs" was created to facilitate communication between the species. However, the agency has deviated from that mission in recent years by implementing policies to keep monsters under close surveillance and limit their interactions with humans.

New employee Lu Ji sympathizes with the monsters' struggles and their loss of habitats to the humans. He starts to question the agency's policies, which seem to mostly benefiting the humans. His conflicting feeling about his role as a facilitator intensifies when he discovers he may be part monster. Should he side with the monsters and fight back against the human's high-handed policies, or side with the humans and eliminate all that threatens human safety?

Having the same stylistic tone as the first season, Closer to You 2 follows Han Fei as she time travels to her university days and reunites with her boyfriend Wu Jinghao who was supposed to be lying unconscious in a hospital bed. They continue their love story while trying to solve the mysteries of fate.

Ten years ago, Wu Jinghao fell into a coma to save Han Fei; and she has been waiting for him to wake up ever since. By chance, the 28-year-old Han Fei travels back in time to the commencement ceremony at the university campus. If things were as it once was, Wu Jinghao should've been in the hospital. Instead, Wu Jinghao has lost part of his memories. Han Fei's mind is burning with questions yet she walks into Wu Jinghao's life once again to continue their romance. In the process, she discovers that there is no escape from fate.

Kurasawa Itsuki was once an elementary school teacher, but she now works as a detective. When Kurasawa Itsuki was a teacher, her daughter was brutally murdered by her 12-year-old student Ruoto. The horrific case shocked the entire nation at that time. Afterwards, Kurasawa Itsuki decided to become a detective to save people in desperate situations like she was in.

12 years after the murder case, Kurasawa Itsuki is busy solving cases as a detective. She knows that Ruoto is going to be discharged from a medical juvenile training school and she hears that Ruoto is now completely rehabilitated. As a family member of the victim, Kurasawa Itsuki can’t help having suspicions about his true nature. One day, Kurasawa Itsuki receives a message that says "I'll take your precious thing once more."
