Onizuka, a former motorcycle gang member turned high-school teacher is assigned to a private academy full of troubled students. The issue at this high school revolves around an exposé-style influencer who has nearly 2 million followers who specializes in exposing and spreading rumors, causing controversies and uproar, regardless of whether the individuals involved are celebrities or ordinary people. Several teachers and students from the academy have been exposed so far, and due to being targeted so frequently, there are rumors circulating within the school that there might be a culprit impersonating the influencer. As a result, students live their school lives while constantly observing each other’s expressions, becoming increasingly suspicious and paranoid.

Set in the beautiful city of Kyoto, a strange relationship is sparked between lonely university game geek Tadashi, who wishes for nothing more than to find a girlfriend, and Izzy, a Yokai girl who can only sustain herself by engaging in physical relationships with men. An original medical murder mystery surrounds an unknown killer coccus (bacteria), that leaves no trace in the victim's body, which enables it to be used as the perfect weapon to kill. Fujimaki Tatsuomi is a pathologist working at the Pathlogy department at Meikyo Medical University Hospital. He's looked down upon by the other staff around him, and his relationship with Maho his wife, a former nurse, has cooled down.

After a patient's suspicious death, he makes a new discovery; when the deadly bacteria "Gift" invades the body, the patient soon dies, but the "Gift" leaves no trace thereafter, enabling it to be used as the perfect weapon to kill. As a result of this discovery, Fujimaki's life dramatically changes. While searching for a way to treat his ailing wife's heart disease, he becomes embroiled in a conspiracy surrounding the killer bacteria "Gift."

Shinmachi Ryotaro is a 37-year-old professional soccer player. He devoted his life to the sport and he was a member of the national soccer team. After an injury, his play has been in decline. This led to him playing for the J3 League. Now, he is forced to retire as a soccer player. All he knows is soccer, but, at the age of 37, he must find a regular job like other people and work like them. His daughters are extremely proud of him because he plays soccer, so he isn't able to tell them about his retirement. Shinmachi Ryotaro then finds sports management company Victory. He decides to work there and work hard for the company, but, in his mind, he still has a hard time accepting his playing career is over. He faces a big problem at work.

Ishizawa Hajime works as a sales department chief for a trading company. The younger employees complain about the company, including having to work overtime and a lack of innovative working methods. Ishizawa Hajime looks at them with an intimidating glance and the young employees run away from him.

One rookie employee, Mugita Ayumi, begins to work in Hajime Ishizawa’s sales department. Mugita Ayumi tries to adjust to her new work environment, but it isn't for her. The only time she can feel comfortable is eating her lunch box at her desk alone. One day, while she is eating her lunch box alone as usual, Ishizawa Hajime appears in front of her.

She chases after him and asks, "would you like to do some work (arubaito)?" It turns out that Kazumi in her last letter from New York had written that she was in a relationship with someone and that they might soon marry, but since then she has broken up with him, and she didn't want to make her father upset by coming home alone. The man, a freelance journalist named Yoshimi Kaoru, agrees to pretend to be her fiancé. On reaching home, Kazumi discovers that her father is not actually on his deathbed (he just had minor surgery), and everyone discovers that Taku had written that letter back to Kazumi where their father says he's happy about the relationship. But the biggest shock comes when Kazumi admits that she's pregnant, and that she wants to have the baby...

Kasahara Natsuki is a thirty year-old hairdresser from Tokyo who comes to Sapporo to relax and enjoy a vacation during the 2000 New Year's Eve festival/party.
