Kankuro Haruhara is a research officer at the Meteorological Research Institute. With his handsome appearance and fresh smile, he appears on the weather segment of a news program. He is also a chief at the SDM (Special Disaster Management) Headquarters, whose purpose is to protect lives from weather disasters.

While he is excellent at his work and possesses a vast knowledge of meteorology, he is often resented by his colleagues at work due to making biting remarks. Because of Kankuro’s passion and straightforward mindset on saving lives, he eventually changes how his colleagues view him. Kankuro tries to make SDM Headquarters the best that it can be, and he also chases after a mystery.

Sanpuu Minami is a popular shojo manga artist who is believed by many to be a woman. In actuality, though, his real identity is Eichizen Gotaro, a single father with two children. With the deadline for his manga approaching, he requests a withdrawal but this is declined due to a lack of special circumstances.

Tosu Tetsuo never expected his daughter, Reika, to be a victim of domestic violence. Criminologist Himura Hideo gets so much pleasure out of being in crime scenes that he's even confessed to having wanted to kill someone. Constantly seeking out the ultimate crime, he is indeed a man with quite a few issues. Mystery writer Arisugawa Arisu, on the other hand, keeps a close eye on Himura's investigations and writes about them but at times completely misses the point. Not at all the type of guy you'd call dependable, Arisugawa nonetheless professes to be the protector of the clumsy Himura. Although these two men appear like they have no business being in crime scenes, they mitigate each other's shortcomings and use their compelling logic to unravel the elaborately woven tricks left behind by the criminals. It's almost as if Himura and Arisugawa use incredible magical powers to tease out unimaginable truths!

55-year-old Kanji Washida (Koichi Sato) has worked as an attorney for the past 25 years in Hokkaido, Japan. He has lived alone all that time. That was his punishment that he gave to himself 25 years ago when he worked as judge.

He has since lived a lonely existence.

Now, defendant Atsuko (Tsubasa Honda) appears in front of Kanji. She reminds him heavily of Saeko. Atsuko begins to have feelings for Kanji.

The story is set in the late Edo period when the divorce rate was two times higher than the present.

In the feudal Japanese society, men could easily divorce their wives whereas wives had great difficulty to exercise the same act. Many women found solace at a women’s Buddhist temple in Kamakura named Tokei-ji, where, after two years of servitude, their husbands were forced to sign divorce papers. The three inns located in the area beneath the temple functioned as the front offices, with Tokei-ji accepting only women who have been approved by them first.

The year is 1841. Tokugawa Shogunate has issued sumptuary regulations as part of Tempo reforms, making the lives of common people even worse. Segawa Kiichi or otherwise known as "Keebou" has recently moved back to his hometown due to a business transfer after years of life in Tokyo. Kiichi is a mediocre salesman for a medical-equipment manufacturer.

One day, when he goes drinking at a hostess pub with one of his colleagues, he is confronted with a former gang member turned yakuza leader, Tagawa. Kiichi used to be a leader of a small gang called "Who Are You" back in his youth himself and the two are familiar faces. Tagawa tells his group that Kiichi let his own team get beaten up ten years ago and that he is the most cowardly living man of the century. Tagawa and his yakuza group have captured a 10-year-old girl for some reason, and although he does not want to get involved at first, Kiichi ends up helping the little girl escape from them. Soon, he pays the price for it. When members of Kiichi's old gang, "Who Are You" learn of their leader's return and the adverse circumstance he is in, they round up to take on the yakuza to save him despite their resentment for their leader's betrayal a decade ago.
