The movie also is entitled "First Love" in Japanese.

This drama is based on Chinese novel “Bu Bu Jing Xin” by Tong Hua which was originally published online in 2005 on Jinjiang Original Network. The novel also adapted into the chinese television series “Scarlet Heart” which was aired in Hunan Broadcasting System (HBS) from 2011-Sep-10 to 2011-Sep-29 and also “Scarlet Heart 2” which was aired in Zhejiang STV (ZJTV) from 2014-Apr-22 to 2014-May-07.

This drama was fully pre-produced before airing which is a departure from the live-shoot production format that characterizes most Korean dramas. The Filming Began on 2016-Jan and Completed on 2016-June-30. The series will be simulcast in China.

When a total eclipse of the sun takes place, a 21st-century woman, Go Ha Jin, is transported back in time to the Goryeo Dynasty of Korea. His main purpose was not so much to rob but to search for the owner of a specially designed sword which he saw as a child was used to kill his father, a loyal subject of the emperor. Eun Chae is a government official's daughter who despite her upbringing has a lot of empathy towards the poor. She met Iljimae by chance and couldn't help admiring him for what he stood for even though she had never seen his face.

At the height of the 16th-century Chosun Dynasty, a pair of rural male actors - boisterous, macho Jang Seng and quiet, feminine Gong Gil - travels to Seoul and team up with a struggling acting troupe. When their irreverent show, complete with enough bawdy humor and gender-bending to make a contemporary audience blush, mocks the famously hedonistic king, they get more than they bargained for. After being promptly arrested, they're given a chance to spare themselves if they can make the king laugh. To everyone's surprise, the ecstatic monarch loves the show and names the actors official court jesters, giving them more extravagant food and shelter than they'd ever imagined. But the king's attentiveness to Gong Gil makes it quickly apparent that humour isn't the only thing motivating his generosity. The king's mistress, the country's ministers and Jang Seng soon grow suspicious, and jealousy and anger spring from all sides.

Best buddies Min Jae, Dong Wan and Chang Seop share all the common problems of high school seniors. They struggle against their parents and other peers to establish their own identities, fall for girls, eat, drink, and stress about college entrance exams and what school they'll get into.

Min Jae's father is a commercial pilot who expects his son to follow in his footsteps. However, not only does Min Jae NOT share his father's ambition, his grades and test scores don't qualify him to get into an aviation program. Meanwhile, his neighbour and crush, Soo Jin, has decided she wants to become a veterinarian, despite the fact she's too afraid of animals to even touch a puppy! Sadly, her family takes very little interest in her future until the night her mother overhears another girl confessing her love to Soo Jin. Mom decides what her daughter REALLY needs is to take ballet classes at the local community center. "It will be good for your posture, and help you look more like a real girl", she says.

Unfortunately for ballet instructor Mrs. Yang, though, her class is on the verge of being cancelled due to lack of attendance. Her only enthusiastic students are a waiter at the neighbourhood Chinese restaurant and the video store owner. Even the middle-aged housewives who joined are quitting after a few weeks because they aren't losing the weight they'd expected to. The lives of all of these characters collide one night when Mrs. Yang catches Min Jae driving drunk, without a license, and in his father's borrowed car. She blackmails him and his friends into taking ballet, thereby saving her class from being cancelled.

The story is centered on the love between a musically gifted South Korean man, Yoo Sung Jae, and a Japanese woman, Misaki. Misaki, who feels guilty over her boyfriend's death, is transferred to Korea and meets Seong Jae who helps her cure her wounds of the past memories with love.
