Set in the Heian period, Seimei Abe is a young student at Onmyoryo. The school raises students to become an onmyoji, who protect the city from curses and evil spirits. Seimei Abe is well known as a genius in the field of magic. Unlike his fellow students, who all aspire to become an onmyoji, Seimei Abe doesn't have any interest in becoming an onmyoji. One day, he is asked by Noble Hiromasa Minamoto to solve a strange phenomenon that hits royal family member Yoshiko. Seimei Abe and Hiromasa Minamoto work together to unravel the strange phenomenon.

Watanuki Shinobu is a manga artist for the past 20 years. Despite being married and having a son, Shinobu lives her life unsatisfactorily. Rosuke Narumi (Sho Sakurai) works at a trading company and he is pretty good at his job. He dates Satoko Matsubara (Mikako Tabe). The trading company has a business relationship with a private high school experiencing some difficulties. One day, Rosuke Narumi is appointed as the principle of the private high school. Rosuke Narumi soon discovers how different the work environment is from his previous job.

So the school can run in the black, Rosuke Narumi implements cost cutting measures. School staff members including Chihiro Mashiba (Yu Aoi) oppose his plan.

Fumi becomes Genzui Kusaka’s wife. During the turbulent times of the closing days for the Tokugawa shogunate, she lives positively and tries to keep up Shoin Yoshida's will. Shoin Yoshida is her older brother and intellectual.

Keito Myose (Yuya Yagira) and Yuichi Saeki (Masato Yano) were involved in a horrible case when they were young. They are now all grown up, but still suffering from that incident. At night, Keito and Yuichi meet again. A woman who is an acquaintance of Keito is killed in Keito's room. While the police investigates, a detective tells him "... you know Yuichi Saeki is a suspect and is on the country's most wanted list..."
