Nobunaga takes a handful of men and proceeds towards Kyoto. Early in the morning 2 days later, Gyuichi learns of Nobunaga's death at Honnoji Temple due to treachery. It was impossible for Nobunaga's small number of men including Mori Ranmaru to withstand Mitsuhide's forces and they were said to have perished in the temple fire. But the strange thing is, Nobunaga's remains could not be found.

While patrolling the Honjo area, Heizo Hasegawa encounters his old dojo companion and close friend, Samanosuke Kishii, as well as Hikoju of Sagami, a ruffian from Honjo. Samanosuke informs Heizo that the daughter they once admired, Ofusa, has been divorced and is now married into the household of the villainous lord, Jubei Matsuoka. The story is set in the Meiji period and revolves around the young daughter of a poor family in Yamagata Prefecture who’s sent away to work for a wealthy family to earn a living. The overarching theme of perseverance through hardships became a trademark of the Oshin character, which made the original series incredibly popular throughout Asia and throughout the world, reaching viewership numbers that have yet to be matched. The original drama spanned most of Oshin’s life, but the movie will focus on her childhood.
