In the early days of the Republic, legendary martial artist Ye Ruzhou suffers a severe injury, losing her memory and winding up in the impoverished alley of Minfu Lane. By a twist of fate, she crosses paths with the carefree Chen Awang, and the two fall for each other. When local tyrant Zheng Juehou intensifies his hold over the neighborhood, Ye Ruzhou rises to defend her new community. Matsuoka is a teacher at a culinary school. One day, a student, Tashiro, says something strange during the lesson: “There’s a noise, it’s like a chime. Someone is sending me a message.” The people running the school warn him that Tashiro’s a little odd, but Matsuoka isn’t bothered by it at all and continues treating him normally. However, on another day, Tashiro says, “Half of my brain has been replaced with a machine,” and takes drastic action to prove it. Some days after the incident with Tashiro, Matsuoka is teaching a female student, Akemi. Matsuoka continues teaching unenthusiastically but when she complains that a whole chicken leaves her feeling uncomfortable, something incomprehensible overtakes him. Both at the school and at home, a strange dread begins to undulate in his ordinary existence…

A writer living in Mushashino, Sugimoto Ryuji's novels "Yatou Denki" and "1" were featured in the local newspaper, Koushin Newspaper. One day, an application from Shiota Yoshiko was delivered to Koushin Newspaper with the gist of its contents saying "Yatou Denki seems interesting, so I'd like to read your publication". Sugimoto Ryuji then sent a letter of acknowledgement to Yoshiko. However, in less than one month's time since the application was made, these words were delievered "Your novel is too boring so I will not purchase it anymore"

One day Osomatsu meets an elderly gentleman who tells him a story about his son, who he lost in an accident. Coincidentally, Osomatsu looks similar to the deceased son, and so the gentleman wishes to adopt him. The man turns out to be the CEO of a big company, and, after overhearing the conversation, the rest of the sextuplets deicide to get into a fight with Osomatsu to decide who will become the heir. Later on, the story takes a sudden, unexpected twist as three strange men dressed in black show up.

In the depths of western China's Gobi Desert, Yong operates a dilapidated ostrich farm, which is the last throw of the dice for him as he tries to win back his ex-wife and repair his life. One day, Mr. Wu comes looking for a debt to be repaid. When Yong can't come up with the money, Wu leaves a lonely little boy behind, telling Yong to look after him. Suspecting his ex-wife might be considering another marriage, Yong can only take the boy along as he goes to find her. In three days crossing the Gobi, they meet a sad and depressed female trucker Mei, and the three lonely people become a pseudo-family. More people join the action and the relationship between Yong and the boy is constantly tested and evolving over this journey. In the end, through these series of random encounters, every person embarks on their own path of no return.

Set during the seizure of the throne by Sejo of Joseon in the year 1455, the movie follows the life of Nae-Kyung.

Nae-Kyung (Song Kang-Ho) hails from a ruined noble family. He travels around Joseon and studies physiognomy. He is able to asses a person's personality, mental state, habits and, consequently, their future, by just studying their face. He lives in seclusion with his son Jin-Hyeong (Lee Jong-Suk) and brother-in-law Paeng-Hun (Cho Jung-Seok). Nae-Kyung hopes to one day become a public officer, even though it is virtually impossible due to his family's failed background.

Naosuke and Tamiko are a happily married couple, and have just bought some land in the countryside to build their new house on. They ask Yanagisawa, Tamiko's junior at university and an interior designer to design it. However, because he is not a qualified architect, they need someone else to apply for consent and built it. They ask Tamiko's father, a builder, to do this. Yanagisawa is a modernist, influenced by American architecture; Tamako's father is a traditionalist. The two soon come into conflict over the design of the house. After many disagreements, they eventually start to understand each other's way of thinking.
