In the small village of Yamakoshi, a dog named Mari gives birth to three puppies, much to the joy of young owners Ryota (Hiroto Ryohei) and Aya (Sasaki Mao). Soon after on October 23, 2004, a major earthquake hits the area, and entire sections of Yamakoshi are reduced to rubble. Away from home, Ryota and father Yuichi (Funakoshi Eichiro) escape the worst of it, but Aya and Grandfather Yuzo (Utsui Ken) are trapped in their collapsed house. A rescue team arrives in time to save them, but there is no room for Mari and her newborn pups on the helicopter. With the entire village evacuated and blocked off, Mari and her puppies are left to their own means in the desolate village. Inspired by a true story of canine heroism, A Tale of Mari and Three Puppies is a touching story of love and resilience starring some seriously adorable dogs that could give Quill a run for his money. Mari's tale of survival against all odds became a symbol of hope for the people of Yamakoshi in the aftermath of the earthquake, and was later turned into a best-selling illustrated book from which the film is adapted. Two young adults, Mitsuru and his girlfriend Maki, kidnap a little girl and hold her for ransom to pay off a drug-related a debt. As they hide out at an abandoned school, they attempt to call the girl's parents only to find out from her parents she has been dead for a year. Mitsuru's friends also arrive, with ulterior motives of their own. Soon, members of the group are brutally killed by an unseen force. Is the mysterious little girl responsible, or is something far more sinister at work?

You Mei is feeling the pressure of living under the shadow of her more successful sister. After a failed suicide attempt, she finds an abandoned statue on the street and takes it home. When she discovers it is a Kuman Thong, she accidentally makes a blood sacrifice to it, unleashing the Jaroona spirit. After the death of a few of her close friends, she enlists the help of some goofy ghost hunters to suppress the spirit, who realise they are out of their depth. They then call the BiXian for assistance, but even she isn't enough to stop the Jaroona. As a final resort, they call upon the BiXian's arch nemesis - Sadako. Now BiXian and Sadako have to put aside their differences and work together to defeat Jaroona and save You Mei.
