Joyee, a young music-maker from Kolkata, gets fascinated by the performance of a musical band of young slum kids. However, her life takes a magical turn when she meets Sanjib Mondal, the bandleader and a former gang member.

Rising idol Elanne Kong stars as Ji, one of six youngsters who occupy the eponymous 6th Floor Rear Flat, the very same flat that housed the now moved-on youngsters from the original Truth or Dare. Her roommates include wannabe singer Kay (Tian Yuan of Butterfly) plus four guys, each played by one half of a singing duo. There's Bonbon (Donald Tong of I Love U Boyz), Pang (Siu Yeah-Jim, also of I Love U Boyz), 6 Wing (played by 6 Wing, of the Edison Chen-backed hip hop group Fama), and finally C Kwan (played by, duh, C Kwan, also of Fama). Together, the six hold flat parties and lounge around, all the while pursuing unrealistic dreams or phoning in their jobs. The six do express the desire to open a business together, but a suitable idea eludes them. That is, until the grandmother of Kay's boyfriend passes on. Kay is required to attend the funeral, which is handled in typical Hong Kong-style, i.e., it's exceptionally long and somber, and features performances by Taoist priests. The other five friends attend to support Kay, but become bored, and take to chatting on Facebook via their mobile phones. That's when the idea hits them: why not start a "happy funeral business" where people can celebrate the departed person's life rather than mourn their death? Sadly, the group doesn't have the capital to start up such a biz, but they fortuitously run into the owner of a prosperous funeral business, played by Eric Tsang. He agrees to front them $10 million HK dollars if they can draw up a feasible business plan, complete with expenses, projected revenue, and probably helpful pie charts. Jin Woo, who resides on a sheep ranch in Hwacheon, Gangwon-do, lives a quiet life with his daughter Seol. Ranch owner Joong Man and his daughter Moon Kyeong treat them as family. Soon after, Jin Woo’s male friend Hyun Min arrives at the ranch, and reveals that the two have been long-time lovers. They dream of living happily with Seol in this peaceful place. However, with Jin Woo’s twin sister Eun Young’s visit, the conflict begins. In fact, Seol is Eun Young’s daughter but Jin Woo has been raising her because Eun Young disappeared. Like the close-up scene of the sheep wool in the beginning, A Far Place is a story that is not noticed from afar but revealed when looked closely. The local folks, who seemed friendly and gentle, show their true colors, and become exclusive and discriminatory as they learn about the truth of the two men. Even the intentions of family members, who thought they knew each other well, feel like ‘a far place.’ Like Jin Woo’s mind, the beautiful autumn landscape of Gangwon-do turns into harsh winter, but the film believes there is still a ray of hope.

Joon Geun, a university student who postponed his graduation to look for work, gets kicked out of the dormitory because he failed to apply for a winter semester. He has to get a part-time that provides room and board to survive the severe winter of Gangwon province. He accidentally finds a surfing guesthouse ‘Welcome Guesthouse’ and begs for a part-time although he has never surfed before. While he works there and learns how to surf, he picks a fight with a typical rich kid Seong Min on a lineup. They agree to settle a fight with a surfing match where the loser has to leave the sea. While Joon Geun trains with the help of Welcome Guesthouse season members, his advisor calls him and says there is a job interview on the day of the match. Joon Geun can’t make up his mind between the match and the interview and the clock is ticking.
