A priest there tells her that her family is facing karma caused by her gangster ancestor. After Kie decides to perform a ritual, she finds herself back in time in the body of a man who had been killed. She meets all the gang members including her own great grandfather, Khung. While getting to know him, Kie attempts to prevent Khung from performing the action that would lead to her family's misfortune.

Juzo Itami, director of "Tampopo," is back in the food business again. This time he hits the big supermarkets and their nefarious ways. They buy cheap and sell high, they repackage yesterday's fish and refry last week's croquettes. Worst of all, they willfully market Australian beef dressed up as Japan's precious steak. Gangi, Soyeong, and Aram are best friends who go to the same high school. Gangi appears relatively normal, compared to Soyeong who dreams of becoming a model, or Aram who is unique in her own special way. One day, they decide to run away from home. However, life does not go easy on them. What is more serious are the cracks in their relationship. After their failed attempt to run away, they return home and go back to school only to face more challenges. What had happened to Soyeong and Gangi later prompts Soyeong to intentionally leave Gangi out, and the bullying gets worse as time goes by. Aram also has a hard time along the way.

Thamrong, a young man working as a bus driver and rubber tapper, meets Iu, a university teaching student raised by a strict father. Their love comes to a dead end when Iu's father forces her to marry someone wealthy. The two run away to one of the Chao Ley islands together. However, their path of love isn't scattered with rose petals. The two are forced apart, but the love they have for one another propels them to find a way to each other, to spend their lives together up to the point of historical tragedy famed to this day.
