Peace has returned to Thamma Nakanimitr Temple after Monk Nong, Monk First and Monk Balloon completed the mission to fulfill their pledges and won the battle with the ghost of Nak Nont. The three monks hope to spend a peaceful life in the saffron robe. But not so fast. Something happens, so Monk Balloon and Monk First secretly pack their bags and leave the monkhood in the middle of the night. A story about a white-collar worker Liang Liang (William Feng) and young actress Miao Miao (Ni Ni). They fall in love and move in together, and at first, their romance flows hot and heavy. However, some of Liang Liang’s actions, which include meeting with an ex-girlfriend late at night, exchanging flirty text messages with a female colleague, and running off to night clubs with friends, cause Miao Miao to feel insecure about her worth in his life. As a result, she resorts to increasingly more inane ways to control him and the relationship.

Based on real life stories from the director's life, and those known to him. It is set in the South Korean countryside around a U.S. military base, and particularly involves the villages that are affected by its presence. This includes an unstable, near psychotic American soldier who survives on a diet of LSD and rage, Eun-ok, a girl with one defective eye, Jihum a lonesome boy and Chang-guk, who lives in an old abandoned U.S. Air Force bus with his mother. She has taught Chang-guk English in an attempt to prepare him for their new life in America, reunited with his father who she mails regularly, although the letters are always returned "address unknown.

The sublime opening sequence of Dust in the Wind follows a nearly imperceptible diffused white speck - perhaps the referential "dust" of the film's evocative title - as it momentarily shifts location near the center of the frame then continues on its inexorable course, gradually converging to reveal a light at the end of a tunnel from onboard a lumbering passenger train. It is an indelible metaphor for what would prove to be the bittersweet experience of first love in the lives of the two high school students commuting on the train: a pensive and diligent young man named Wan (Wang Jingwen) and his reticent, devoted girlfriend Huen (Xin Shufen).
