In the early days of the Republic, legendary martial artist Ye Ruzhou suffers a severe injury, losing her memory and winding up in the impoverished alley of Minfu Lane. The story follows a young man who has been single for a year after his boyfriend suddenly disappeared without a formal breakup. During the Ming dynasty, Japan invaded China with an army equipped with guns. The union chief of the martial arts clans revealed in his deathbed that there is a rare book containing secrets that will make a person immune to gunfire. His last words sparked the clans to contend with each other to find it. Also in search of the book were the Japanese who dispatched a team of ninjas to go after the book. The imperial court also secretly intervened in this dispute. The emperor secretly dispatched a Kung fu Master and ordered him to find the book within seven days.

Hanako Haibara was born and raised in the city of Tokyo. After she gets dumped by her boyfriend, while in her late 20's, she goes on blind dates to find a man to marry.

Miki Tokioka was born in a province. She studied very hard and entered a prestigious university in Tokyo. She experienced difficult financial times, but she now works at an IT company.

Due to a man, Hanako Haibara and Miki Tokioka meet each other.

Province 77 concerns a Thai family who has come to America. The title refers to a Thai-filled section of Los Angeles that is given the title moniker in honor of Thailand's 76 provinces. The film depicts how the sons and daughters in the family are affected by the street culture that surrounds them.

After their father's death, Sang Yeon and Ha Yeon were separated in childhood at an orphanage, after their mother placed them for adoption because she couldn't care for them. 30 years later, a TV show hears their story and tries to reunite them. While filming the TV show, both brothers are shocked by each other's religion. Sang Yeon, who was raised in America is now a pastor, and his brother Ha Yeon is a shaman. But right after their reunion, their birth mother, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, suddenly disappears. So Sang Yeon and Ha Yeon team up together and go on a road trip to search for her.

This digital featurette, not quite a companion piece to Tropical Malady but certainly related to it, shows Joe operating at the height of his formalist powers. One of the things I’ve valued about Weerasethakul’s work since Mysterious Object at Noon is his commitment to exploring the traditions of avant-garde cinema while taking those idioms into uncharted territory. While some works by Joe have displayed an interest in bending the strategies of Andy Warhol and Bruce Baillie to the needs of Thai folklore and narrative gamesmanship, Worldly Desires takes a more structural approach. However this piece bears little resemblance to structural film as we usually think of it; if there are specific touchstones for Worldly Desires in film history, they would be those “other” structuralists, so wonky and off the beaten track as to thwart easy categorization. Like Morgan Fisher’s early film projects, Worldly Desires is a documentation of the filmmaking process. Within a single expansive jungle location, portions of a Thai soap opera are being filmed by day, and a music video is being made by night.We watch at a significant remove, behind the camera and lighting crews. Multiple views display random bits of business on the periphery, like the craft services table or a playback monitor. However, the stringent day / night rhythmic structure breaks down in the end, the night song (about a woman wondering if she’ll be as lucky in love as her mom was — an Electra Complex with a disco beat) eventually bleeding into the daytime shoot. But more significantly, the relatively austere TV production, whose melodramatic dialogue is mostly heard in disconnected snippets, is contrapuntally offset by the swelling musical numbers. They break up the video, with the unexpected jolt of pure pleasure. Although these sequences recall the musical interludes in certain of Tsai Ming-liang’s films, they’re shot in the mode of early Hou Hsiao-hsien, dancing girls reduced to tiny figures in a wide expanse, itself engulfed within an intractable master-shot. The rigor / comedy handoff recalls aspects of Owen Land’s work, but perhaps more importantly, Joe’s visual and conceptual approach displays a sensitivity to the unique qualities of the jungle landscape, a willingness to let the “location” become the subject of the piece. Worldly Desires is a landscape film, one that brings that most mythologically burdened aspect of Tropical Malady — its deep, dark thicket of the soul — and allows it to grow wild and overtake the image.

Hyeong-do (So Ji-sub) wears a suit and tie like any other rank-and-file white collar worker... except his profession is hitman. Seemingly a section chief in the sales division of a metal fabrication company that is actually a front for an organization of hit men, Hyeong-do is regarded as one of the best contract killers in the business and is up for promotion soon. One day, he meets a single mother named Su-yeon (Lee Mi-yeon) and instantly falls in love. Feeling guilty about his bloody past, Hyeong-do tries to quit the "manufacturer" to the surprise of his colleagues and his enemies. Seen as a loose end, he is immediately hunted down by his former employers. 

Everyone in village is preparing to receive the auspicious God Of Fortune on the eve of the Lunar New Year. Come midnight, people of various races impersonate the deity and offer up mandarin oranges as well as lucky numbers in return for a red packet. Despite being poor, Ah Beng's father still hands up all the money he has to the God Of Fortune. Turns out he has hit the jackpot and the deity is for real. Just like a genie, the deity grants him three wishes.

Etsuro Kurosu fails to get into a university and becomes a hikikomori. One day, he tries to hang himself from a hook on the wall in his apartment. He fails, but his attempt leaves a hole in the wall. Through the hole wall, Etsuro Kurosu can now see Rio Miyaichi. He becomes fascinated with the girl that lives next door.

Later, while peeping at her through the wall, Etsuro Kurosu sees her in the process of brutally murdering someone. He screams and is caught by her. Etsuro Kurosu confesses that he loves her and they start to date. Etsuro Kurosu feels happiness in his life, but what will happen to him? Will he be murdered by Rio Miyaichi?
