The story follows a young man who has been single for a year after his boyfriend suddenly disappeared without a formal breakup. One night, while scrolling through a dating app, he encounters someone who looks strikingly similar to his ex. After a spontaneous hookup, he discovers that this new acquaintance is actually his ex’s twin brother. People in the village continue to leave town. Even Hungai's wife ends up in leaving, due to their daughter's illness. As Hungai drinks in despair and anguish, Korean refugee CHOI Soon-hee knocks at his door with her son, Chang-ho. Now there remain only these three in the desert, who have to depend on one another to overcome the hostile environment. The three get to know each other, even though they don't speak the same language. Furthermore Jorick, a young tank soldier from the nearby Mongolian armored troops, becomes friends with Chang-ho as he frequents the village. Hungai's relationship with CHOI Soon-hee grows in the fine line between love and friendship.

Soo-na, a 17 year-old student who lives in a huge mansion with her uncle and grandmother, is driven over the edge after the suicide of her best friend. She locks herself in her room, talks to someone that nobody else can see, and tries to kill herself in front of her family. Her uncle, Se-jin, enlists the help of his fiancée, Yoon-mi, a psychiatrist who specialises in hikikomori. Yoon-mi suspects that Soo-na's condition is related to some hidden family history.

Min-ho's adulterous lover Se-hee is murdered in a hotel where only the two of them were present, and Min-ho is immediately singles out as the prime suspect. Insisting on his innocence, Min-ho hires the talented lawyer Shin-ae to defend him, and confesses to her that a car accident on the day before may be connected to Se-hee's murder...

Min Ah discovers a scarlet-covered diary as she is hurrying to school. She has a brief hallucinatory experience when she opens it, initiating a series of strange occurrences which eventually draw Min Ah into the eerie world of the diary. In her desire to find out more about the diary, Min Ah feigns an illness, getting permission to lie down in the school's clinic.

There she witnesses the reunion of Hyo Shin and Shi Eun. The day in the girls' high school is half over, and the students are preoccupied with the trauma of getting their physical checkups. Suddenly their hustle and bustle are abruptly interrupted by a sharp scream which announces the death of Hyo Shin. Soon, her ghostly entity will linger over everyone's secret.

Anna, a 10-year-old girl, runs away from home after an argument with her mother. For unknown reason, she is later chased by Shocker. Then she manages to hop onto DenLiner, known as the train that crosses time. She gets off during 1989 - the first year of the Heisei Era and has a great adventure with Momotaros and others.

6 year old city boy 'Sang-woo' is brought to his grandma's house in the country for awhile as his mom has to work. He hates his grandma who knows nothing about fast food and he hates rural life where there is nothing fancy to play with. But the way going back home in the city is not pleasant as he thought.

On September 9th, the day of the Katakai Fireworks Festival, high school student Hana (Tanimura Mitsuki) comes home from the hospital after six months of treatment for leukemia. She then discovers that her older brother Taro (Kora Kengo) has become a hikikomori (social recluse). Taro used to be tender, smart and proud of his younger sister, but now he even turns his back on her and stays in his room. Her parents act like there is nothing wrong with him. Later that evening, Hana attends the Katakai Fireworks Festival and observes the town's youth group happily planning for next year's event. She decides to get Taro involved with the group in an effort to bring him out of his shell. Hana drags Taro out of his room and to the youth group office. Unfortunately, Taro is not accepted as a member. Hana, nevertheless, is determined to get Taro back into society and helps him find a part-time job as a paper boy & into the adult meetings for the Katakai Fireworks Festival. With Hana's help Taro slowly opens up to the world again. Then, with winter approaching, Hana has a relapse with her leukemia. Taro comes to the hospital everyday to visit Hana and soon learns that the Katakai Fireworks Festival is a symbol of happiness for Hana. Taro then takes the initiative to make Hana happy and approaches the town's youth group once more for admittance.

Dong Gu is not your average Madonna fan. Listening to the Material Girl's second album (and applying a little lipstick) allows the young teenage boy to escape into his imagination, away from his dysfunctional family - his pathetic alcoholic father, a former boxer, is prone to violence, his older brother is beginning to resemble the old man, and his mother has fled family life to work at a Disney-esque amusement park. Things aren't much better at school, where he's bullied for his effeminate tendencies. But once again, fantasy comes to the rescue in the form of a young male teacher who, Dong Gu imagines, beckons to him during class. But when a wrestling coach discovers the boy's natural talent, and a potential goldmine in those stocky thighs, Dong Gu starts training, striving to win a competition for the cash prize that will allow him to realize his ultimate fantasy: becoming a woman.
