The story follows a young man who has been single for a year after his boyfriend suddenly disappeared without a formal breakup. Satoru Fujinuma is an unpopular manga artist, who doesn't like having relationships with other people, although he also works part-time delivering pizzas. Satoru has the special ability of "revival", that allows him to go back in time before terrible incidents occurred and right whatever wrong occurred. He goes back continually until the incidents are prevented. 18 years ago, a serial murder case took place with the victims being children. Satoru, using the body of an elementary school student, travels to that time to catch the killer and to save his mother who faced the criminal.

Years ago, Tae-Sik (Kim Rae-Won) was a feared henchmen for the mob, but after spending 10 years in prison Tae-Sik now only wants to live a normal life. He returns to a place he thinks of as home and to the woman (Kim Hae-Sook) who has looked after him like a mother. Trouble then finds Tae-Sik again, when gangsters want to build a nightclub over the land that Tae-Sik's mother occupies. Once the gangsters attack Tae-Sik's "adopted" family, Tae-Sik goes after the gangsters with pure vengeance.

Jung Yup tries to find a job as a lawyer for a law firm in Seoul. It's not so easy for him, with Jung Yup being from a smaller city. In the meantime, he begins work at a child welfare center in his hometown. He goes with a co-worker from the child welfare center to the police station and meets 10-year-old Da Bin. The young girl reported to the police that her stepmother Ji Sook choked her around her neck, but there isn't anything Jung Yup is able to do. Da Bin is returned to her family. Da Bin and her 7-year-old brother Min Joon begin visiting Jung Yup at the child welfare center daily. He makes an effort to spend time with them to keep his job. Jung Yup is aware that the children are abused by their stepmother, but he is powerless to do anything about it.

Jung Yup then learns that he has been hired by a law firm in Seoul. Without saying goodbye to Da Bin and Ji Sook, he heads off to Seoul. One day, he receives a phone call that Da Bin has killed her younger brother Min Joon.
