After suffering from serial paranormal events, a wealthy family living in LA summons a young rising shaman duo Hwa Rim and Bong Gil to save the newborn of the family. Once they arrive, Hwa Rim senses a dark shadow of their ancestor has latched on the family in a so-called 'Grave Calling'.

In order to exhume the grave and relieve the ancestor, Hwa Rim seeks help from top-notch geomancer Sang Deok and mortician Yeong Geun. To their dismay, the four find the grave at a shady location in a remote village in Korea. Unaware of the consequences, the exhumation is carried out, unleashing a malevolent force buried underneath.

Soma Ito is a high school student in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. She has a talent for playing Tsugaru-shamisen. The music is native to Aomori Prefecture and involves the traditional folk instrument Tsugaru-shamisen, which is a plucked three-string instrument. Ito learned to play Tsugaru-shamisen from her now-deceased mother. Due to her strong Tsugaru dialect and her shy personality, she has a hard time playing in public and also experiences difficulty in social settings. She doesn't have any friends. To change herself, Ito begins a part-time job at a maid cafe. Her father Koichi watches anxiously over her, while she works her new job. By meeting various people, Ito begins to grow as a person.

Follows Lili, a lonely and poor young mother who has to head for the city to earn enough money to save her dying father.

Korean auteur director Hong Sang-soo creates a cryptic romance shot beautifully in Black & White. The story captures a love triangle-like relationship between a filmmaker, his enigmatic young female assistant, and his friend is told twice, with the second version retelling their affair in a different light. Soo-jung (Lee Eun-ju) is a Cable TV writer who is working with Young-soo (Mun Seong-kun), the producer of the same team.
