In the Great East Japan Earthquake, a young girl named Luca loses her family and is left with a disability that prevents her from speaking properly. She can, however, make her voice heard when she sings. When she remembers that her dead sister’s boyfriend is attending a university in Osaka, she travels there only to end up in an orphanage despite the best intentions of the people who care about her. Over time, Luca becomes Kyrie, a singer who sings on the streets. Her old friend Ikko, whom she meets by chance, offers to be her manager. Will Kyrie succeed as a singer with Ikko’s help?

All Yuan Zhinan has left behind when she passed away is a letter and an invitation to a school reunion. Attending the reunion in lieu of her late elder sister, Zhihua accidentally runs into Yin Chuan, on whom she had a crush in her youth. As old memories are evoked, and correspondences travel through different contexts and times, Zhihua slowly uncovers the intricate story of the trio.

House of Flying Daggers is a 2004 wuxia film directed by Zhang Yimou. It differs from other wuxia films in that it is more of a love story than a straight martial arts film. The use of strong colours is again a signature of Zhang Yimou's work. Several scenes in a bamboo forest completely fill the screen with green. Near the end of the film, a fight scene is set in a blizzard. The actors and blood are greatly highlighted on a whiteout background. Another scene uses bright yellow as a colour theme. The costumes, props, and decorations were taken almost entirely from Chinese paintings of the period, adding authenticity to the look of the film[citation needed].

'Hommage' means respect in French and is a movie about a middle-aged woman who struggled with her dreams and her daily life as a film director as she unfolds her journey of restoring a film of a female director from the 60s. It is a movie that raises the question of what a film is.
