During the summer in the present day, Jeon Youn Ha runs a vacation cottage located deep in the woods. His peaceful life is shaken by the sudden appearance of a mysterious woman named Yoo Sung A.

In the early 2000's, Koo Sang Joon ran the same vocation cottage as Jeon Young Ha did years later. Koo Sang Joon and his family also lived there, but, during the summer, something happened at his vacation cottage and Koo Sang Joon lost everything because of that. At that time, Yoon Bo Min worked as a police officer at the nearest police substation from the vacation cottage. 20 years later, Yoon Bo Min is transferred to the same police substation where she worked before and she begins to work there as the chief. She enjoys solving things and begins to observe Jeon Young Ha closely.

Revolves around two detectives as they investigate and solve together brutal crimes that take place in Ikebukuro. Ryuichi Kanzaki is a detective. Taro Sato (Yusuke Kamiji) has been poor all his life. Since the death of his wife, his situation has become even more desperate as he has to raise his three kids by himself and has no real marketable skills. So when he applies for a job that he doesn't expect to get, as a chauffeur to a rich young woman, he's surprised when he does. His employer is Alice (Aya Ueto), your usual spoiled rich kid. Her father is a hotel magnate and her mother a popular actress. She's never wanted for anything her whole life and expects to get everything she wants. She and Taro have nothing in common, and, at least in the beginning, all they do is get on each other's nerves.

This drama depicts the turbulent period spanning from the reign of King Taejo (born Lee Seong Gye), the founder of the Joseon dynasty, to King Sejong.

During the reign of the shogun, Iemitsu, an epidemic causes the population of men to sharply drop, leading to an ooku where the role of men and women are reversed and so “the women become the shogun, served by 3000 handsome men”...and so with that, the unimaginable and grand scale story begins. The 2010 movie version was set during the period where Yoshimune, the eighth shogun, was in power, where the role reversal of men and women were not uncommon. However, this drama dates back to the time where Iemitsu, the third shogun, was in power, and this story could be considered as “episode zero.” This drama will dramatically portray the schemes, jealousy, and the pure love that emerge at the Edo castle, with the mystery of “how the sex role-reversed ooku came to be?” as the backing plot. ~ TBS
