During the summer in the present day, Jeon Youn Ha runs a vacation cottage located deep in the woods. His peaceful life is shaken by the sudden appearance of a mysterious woman named Yoo Sung A.

In the early 2000's, Koo Sang Joon ran the same vocation cottage as Jeon Young Ha did years later. Koo Sang Joon and his family also lived there, but, during the summer, something happened at his vacation cottage and Koo Sang Joon lost everything because of that. At that time, Yoon Bo Min worked as a police officer at the nearest police substation from the vacation cottage. 20 years later, Yoon Bo Min is transferred to the same police substation where she worked before and she begins to work there as the chief. She enjoys solving things and begins to observe Jeon Young Ha closely.

A young man who showed little promise while a high school student becomes a master detective, just like his grandfather. Tv series based on a serialized Japanese mystery manga (written by Yōzaburō Kanari or Seimaru Amagi (depending on series) and illustrated by Fumiya Satō). The series was a big success and had a second season and a film in the next years, all starred by Domoto Tsuyoshi, half of KinKi Kids' duo. In 2001, the third season was starred by Matsumoto Jun (Arashi), in 2005 Kamenashi Kazuya (KAT-TUN) had the main role in a tv special, and in 2012 Yamada Ryosuke (Hey! Say! JUMP) was the last Johnny taking Kindaichi's role in another special for tv.

Legend of the Purple Hairpin takes place in the Tang dynasty, a time when Chinese art, fashion, music, dance, and novel inventions were at their highest peak. Raymond Lam portrays the heroic Nalan Dong, known as the “Yellow-Clothed One”, who falls in love with beautiful dancer Huo Xiaoyu, played by Michelle Ye. However, Dong’s best friend Li Yi, played by Cheng Cheng (程诚), is also deeply in love with Xiaoyu. Choosing brotherhood over love, Dong decides to step down in his pursuit of love. The drama is a loose adaptation of the classic Ming dynasty opera.

Seo Eun Young and Kang Jung Woo are happy, engaged-to-be-married couple. Suddenly, when Eun Young was pregnant, Jung Woo abandoned her to marry Na Kyung, a rich woman. The new couple then went to study abroad for 5 years. Meanwhile, Eun Young works as a nurse in a hospital. Kang Hyung Woo, who is one of her patients, becomes obsessed with her. Hyung Woo's mother, Madam Shin, a department store owner, then wants Eun Young to marry her son.

During the Tang era, the two consorts Yang Gui Fei and Mei Fei fought for the favor of Emperor Xuanzong. Desperate to bring down her rival, Yang Gui Fei accused Mei Fei of having an affair with an attendant, Sing Tin, and carrying his child. She stabbed Mei Fei with a hairpin and pushed her into a pond. Angered by the injustice, Sing Tin cursed both Xuanzong and Yang Gui Fei to be punished for their crimes. Hundreds of years later, all four people were reborn in modern day Hong Kong. Karma led them to meet again and repay their debts to each other from the past lifetime.

When President's only daughter, Liu Xin Ping, checked into the hospital for her chemotherapy treatment, the head of internal Medicine, Dr. Xu Da Ming, and the head of surgery, Dr. Tang Guo Tai, became the core members of the President's medical team. Both men planned to use this opportunity to prove themselves to be the best person for the hospital director's position.

Xu advised Liu to have a Central IV implantation to alleviate the discomfort of her treatment. He appointed Dr. Su Yi Hua, an expert in this type of operation, to perform the surgery. When Tang found out, he was furious that Xu appointed one of his surgeons without his explicit approval. To spite Xu and take credit for the treatment, he replaced Su with Dr. Qiu Qing Cheng and publicly announced that he himself had performed the surgery. However, this move put him and the hospital in a very difficult position when Liu developed serious complications after the surgery.

Throughout the ordeal, Su tried to maintain his integrity as a doctor by standing up to Tang. His actions created great displeasure in his boss and caused him to be alienated from the entire surgical department.

While Su was experiencing alienation, the woman he loved was also under duress in the hospital. Anesthesiologist Guan Xin was caught in a medical malpractice claim involving hospital director Huang Kai-Yuan. Through Tang, Huang put pressure on Guan to take the blame for the malpractice. Guan refused. In the ensuing media circus, Guan endured pressures from both the hospital and the victim's family. She learned that it's difficult to maintain principle in the face of reality.

Tang's overbearing attitude eventually led to his own downfall and Xu's rise to power. The shift in power stirred up a series of personnel changes, of which directly impacted the future of Qiu, Su and other members of the surgical department.
