During the summer in the present day, Jeon Youn Ha runs a vacation cottage located deep in the woods. His peaceful life is shaken by the sudden appearance of a mysterious woman named Yoo Sung A.

In the early 2000's, Koo Sang Joon ran the same vocation cottage as Jeon Young Ha did years later. Koo Sang Joon and his family also lived there, but, during the summer, something happened at his vacation cottage and Koo Sang Joon lost everything because of that. At that time, Yoon Bo Min worked as a police officer at the nearest police substation from the vacation cottage. 20 years later, Yoon Bo Min is transferred to the same police substation where she worked before and she begins to work there as the chief. She enjoys solving things and begins to observe Jeon Young Ha closely.

The storyline begins in the near future, as referenced from the mid-1960s. Sinister aliens and giant monsters constantly threaten civilization during this period. The only Earth organization equipped to handle these disasters is the Science Special Search Party, or SSSP, a special worldwide police force equipped with high-tech weapons and vehicles, as well as extensive scientific and engineering facilities; this organization is called the Science Patrol. The branch of the Science Patrol that is focused on in the series is located in Tokyo, Japan. Led by Captain "Cap" Toshio Muramatsu, the Science Patrol is always ready to protect the Earth from rampaging monsters, but sometimes it finds itself outclassed. When the situation becomes desperate, Shin Hayata, the Patrol's most capable member, holds the key to salvation in the form of the "Beta Capsule," which, when activated, allows him to transform secretly into the super-humanoid-powered giant from space, who becomes known to the people of Earth as Ultraman.

Honjo Hidehisa (Nakai Kiichi), a successful lawyer in his 50s, is found to have an early onset of Alzheimer’s. He forgets memories which he ought to remember and constantly recalls those that he wants to forget. One incident he wishes to forget is the death of his son in a car accident. The culprit still has not been caught. Honjo has not faced up to the past until now. He has only thought of work and neglected his new family. But as he gradually begins to lose his memories, he devotes his remaining life to exposing his past and taking on his final case.

Lu Yunfei returns to Shanghai from abroad and embarks on his career in the advertising industry. He has always been about why his girlfriend Su Fei broke up with him and has been unable to contact her despite continuous phone calls and SMSes. Su Fei’s mobile number expires due to inactivity and the number is now used by Mu Beibei. The touching SMSes impress her and she goes online to a mobile virtual community to chat with the sender, nicknamed ‘Edge of the Iceberg’. They soon become fast friends. Yunfei and his team arrive in Yunnan to do a cellphone commercial and select Beibei as their model by chance. When Beibei wins a writing competition based on her encounter with ‘Iceberg Edge’, she decides to go to Shanghai to fulfill her dream. Beibei runs into Yunfei there but their already sour relationship worsens with further misunderstandings. Beibei also meets Lin Lizhong, who helps her out many times.

The basis for the drama is the novel "Kashikogi" by author Cho Chang-in, which has sold 2 million copies in Korea since its publication in 2000. It has already been adapted as a television drama and a stage play in that country. On February 4, Shogakukan is publishing the book in Japan under the title "Good Life" Sorimachi plays the part of Daichi Sawamoto, a newspaper reporter who has always prioritized his work over his family. When his wife suddenly leaves him, he finally notices the love he has been receiving from his son. Just as he decides to answer back, it is discovered that his son has leukemia. Igawa plays Sawamoto's wife, Eikura plays a pediatrics specialist, and Ihara plays a doctor.
