During the summer in the present day, Jeon Youn Ha runs a vacation cottage located deep in the woods. His peaceful life is shaken by the sudden appearance of a mysterious woman named Yoo Sung A.

In the early 2000's, Koo Sang Joon ran the same vocation cottage as Jeon Young Ha did years later. Koo Sang Joon and his family also lived there, but, during the summer, something happened at his vacation cottage and Koo Sang Joon lost everything because of that. At that time, Yoon Bo Min worked as a police officer at the nearest police substation from the vacation cottage. 20 years later, Yoon Bo Min is transferred to the same police substation where she worked before and she begins to work there as the chief. She enjoys solving things and begins to observe Jeon Young Ha closely.

Hirabayashi Takuto lives with his two friends Hano Kyohei and Okayama Hajime at a share house. They have been friends since high school. Takuto Hirabayashi now works at a company, Kyohei Hano works at a trading company and Hajime works for an apparel brand.

One day, Takuto comes home from work and finds a baby sleeping in the room. Kyohei and Hajime also come home. They read a letter on the desk that says “the baby is yours.” Who is the baby’s father? This is the story of three cousins who encounter different problems in the real world and who all fall in love. The first cousin, Zhao Qing Chu, is an aspiring and ambitious young lawyer who falls in love with Zhou Jin, a wealthy man with a dark past. Qian Xiao Yang, the second cousin, is trying to build a future in the big city despite her mom's attempts to make her stay in their small town and become a nurse. A day before the Korean War breaks out in 1950, a man is murdered. This event triggers repercussions in three families, as four young people struggle with love and forgiveness. Kim Eun Hee's father was falsely accused of the murder, and dies tragically as a result. Since then, Eun Hee has been shunned by her fellow villagers. Im Sung Jae has always been in love with Eun Hee, but the past threatens to tear them apart. Since his father's death, Sung Jae was ironically rescued and raised as a son by the real killer, Cha Seok Goo. Seok Goo's daughter, Cha Young Joo, is arrogant and smart, and has feelings for Sung Jae. Her jealousy drives her to try to break up his relationship with Eun Hee. Choi Jung Tae is also in love with Eun Hee, but he accepts that she cares for someone else.

The series starts with the murder of a 10-year-old girl in 1984. 15 years later, after the case goes unsolved and passes the statute of limitations, a doctor named Goda Ryoji suddenly quits from his hospital and eventually becomes a detective. In 2008, he meets Sachi, a traveling artist in Paris, and shortly after Goda's return to Japan, he becomes involved in the expired murder case when another detective receives an anonymous phone call.

In their youth Joe (Bowie Lam), Angus (Moses Chan), Ronnie (Kenny Wong) and Ka Ming are good friends and band mates. During a mountaineering trip, the four are stranded on a snow bound mountain and out of desperation Ka Ming is killed and eaten by the other three. This event has a traumatic effect on them, their friendship, and their friendship with Yan (Charmaine Sheh), Ka Ming's girl friend, leading the previously close group to go their separate ways. Eighteen years later, Yan remains haunted by the memory of Ka Ming, trying to regain what she had with him in part with her husband and and in part with her lover, but finding neither a complete replacement for her lost love breaks with them both. Troubled she loses track of time while alone in the wilderness, sparking a missing persons alert which becomes the catalyst for the four friends to meet again. Though she was Ka Ming's girlfriend all four band mates were in love with her and the three survivors remain in love with her.
