Because of the death of her best friend, Xu Hong Dou's life and work fell into a slump. She went to the "windy courtyard" in Yun Miao Village, Dali, to rest alone. There she meets Xie Zhi Yao, a local who quit his high-paying job and returned to his hometown to start a business, and a group of peers from big cities. Xie Zhi Yao began to see Xu Hong Dou's kindness and seriousness, and invited her to use her years of experience in the hotel industry to help local employees improve their service awareness and help develop Yun Miao Village's cultural tourism business. At the same time, Xu Hong Dou was moved by Xie Zhi Yao's ideal of building a hometown so that the villagers could be strong and useful, and the two fell in love with each other and finally came together. As they all worked together they re-examined their pasts, helped and inspired each other, started to heal and gained the strength to start again in this "windy place".

Chen Xian Qi, the editor of a small fashion magazine, has misplaced a diamond the magazine had borrowed. She thought the intern Xiao Jia You had picked it up but was mistaken. When Xian Qi tracks down Jia You, she fails to recoup the diamond, loses her job and faces an onerous debt for its replacement.

Just as Xian Qi becomes desperate, she inherits a mysterious bracelet wielding some magical powers. Somehow the two women wind up renting a two-bedroom apartment together. Once disliking each other, now they must forge a relationship as roommates. Using the powers of the bracelet, they set out to help others. They will experience many things as their hearts get closer.

The film tells the story of a near future in which the earth is irreversibly sandy, as human emissions and rubbish exceed its carrying capacity. As plants and animals mutate to create the Earth’s new masters, the “sand worms”, which are slaughtering the planet and driving humans to the brink of extinction, the survivors are left to their own devices to find the only remaining refuge in the deep desert, the “Oasis”. An exiled team of wealthy businessmen, scientists, security chiefs, mechanic families and gangsters set out on an adventure to find the Oasis in a special armoured vehicle, but the bloodthirsty insects are hot on their heels.

After Li Chu Yao loses her younger brother Chu Chen to an accident, Li Luo Shu, the orphan who lives across the street, takes Chu Chen's place in the Li household to appease his mentally unstable mother. Years pass, and Luo Shu develops romantic feelings for his ‘older sister’, though decides to keep them hidden after Chu Yao falls in love with and gets engaged to Han Zi Mo.

Unfortunately, Han Zi Mo goes on the run after loan sharks come knocking at his door, and Chu Yao is left with a mountain of debt. Luo Shu is gravely injured while trying to protect her, and Chu Yao eventually realizes who she truly loves. They promise to spend the rest of their lives together, yet are soon forced apart by reality.
