Yi Gon is the third Korean emperor of his generation. His citizens regard him as the perfect leader. But behind this flawless appearance, hides a deep wound. When he was eight years old, his father was murdered before his eyes following a coup. Today, instead of respecting his filial duty, he prefers to escape the palace to attend university conferences. During one of his escapades, he sees himself propelled into a parallel world where he meets Jung Tae Eul, an inspector with whom he teams up with to defeat the criminals but also close the door between their two worlds.

Architect Sang Won, who lost his wife in a sudden accident, and his daughter, Yi Na, move to a new house to restore their estranged relationship. Sang Won tries to get closer to Yi Na, but their relationship hardly recovers. Then one day, Yi Na becomes cheerful again saying that she got a new friend. However, strange noises start coming from Yi Na's closet, and she starts acting abnormally. Sang Won and Kyung Hoon then join forces to find Yi Na and solve the mystery of the missing children.

Set in the Joseon period. The king falls ill to smallpox and rumors start to spread that he has actually died. Meanwhile, the Crown Prince Lee Chang is labeled a traitor by the Haewon Cho Clan, the clan of the current pregnant Queen and her father, Cheif State Councilor Cho Hak Joo. While trying to uncover the mystery of what happened to his father, the Crown Prince goes with his guard, Moo Young, to Dongnae to look for Physician Lee Seung Hui who treated his father, only to be stuck with Assistant Physician Seo Bi and the mysterious man, Young Shin, in a village plagued with a mysterious disease.

At a peaceful village, Dal Jae and his son Bong Gil runs a small restaurant that sells naengmyeon (cold noodle dish). Dal Jae has made naengmyeon for almost 70 years and he is not satisfied with Bong Gil's skill in making the dish. Meanwhile, Bong Gil is sick and tired of making naengmyeon. He wants to escape from the restaurant.

After a heroic death, Kim Ja Hong navigates the afterlife with the help of three guardians Kang Rim, Haewonmaek, and Deok Choon. All deceased must meet the gods of hell and face trials of murder, indolence, deceit, injustice, betrayal, violence, and filial impiety over a period of 49 days. However, their plans of getting him through hell become even more challenging as a vengeful spirit exist and wreaks havoc on the real world. With the aid of his guardians and motivated by the idea of meeting his mother once more, Ja Hong and his guardians face obstacles and find reasons by journeying through his emotional past in order to clear him of any accusations and prove that he has lived a noble life.

The drama follows a group of highly trained profilers in the fictional National Criminal Investigation (NCI) team who track down criminals to solve cases. It begins a year after a crucial error results in a bomb detonating at a hospital, killing several SWAT officers and leaving the NCI team leader Kang Ki Hyung's confidence badly shaken. He returns to work after a long break and is immediately drawn into a serial murder case which requires the NCI team to collaborate with the local police agency's Violent Crimes Unit. They meet the temperamental police officer Kim Hyun Joon, who appears to have a bitter grudge against Ki Hyung.

Dae Ho is a former Busan detective who now considers himself the neighborhood sheriff. When Jong Jin, a successful businessman from Seoul, moves nearby, Dae Ho begins to suspect he's a drug offender and starts investigating him with his brother-in-law Duk Man's help.
