Set in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Yoon Soo In (Oh Seung Ah) is a smart student who has never missed ranking at the top of her class. Due to her poor family situation, she begins to work at a factory instead of going to college. Nevertheless, she pursues her dream.

Jingbirok, the name of a book written by real-life Joseon historian and scholar Ryu Seong Ryong, detailing the Imjin War (1592-1598). The drama will be a telling of historical events with the scholar as the central character, in the same vein as "Jeong Do Jeon" (who influenced the founding of the Joseon dynasty). Ryu Seong Ryong was an official who served during King Seonjo’s reign in the late 16th century. He was a brilliant Confucian scholar who was put in charge of military operations during the Imjin War, and greatly influenced Admiral Lee Soon Shin.

Lee Kang To is an ambitious and callous Korean officer employed by the Japanese colonists. Despite his mother's disapproval of his work and his own brother's antagonistic history with the Japanese, Kang To continues to play by the colonist's rules in hopes of becoming successful and bringing his family out of poverty. However, a mysterious figure wearing a traditional Bridal Mask always seems to get in Kang To's way. The Bridal Mask appears as a Zorro-like figure who protects the people from the Japanese colonists' oppression and abuse of power. An unexpected turn events brings Kang To to cross paths with the mysterious Bridal Mask, changing his future and the nation's history forever.

Based on the hit manhwa series of the same name.

Kwon Hyuk Joon's grandfather, the head of the traditional Kwon family agrees to an arranged marriage between his grandson, Hyuk Joon, and Yoon Jung Sook when Yoon Jung Sook is born. Eventually, the two families lose contact with each other, because soon after the contract is signed, Jung Sook's family encounters financial issues and is forced to run away.

18 years later, Jung Sook has grown up to be a rebellious and strong-willed girl who just wants to live her life as she sees fit. As a fusion drama on the life of politician Kim Doo Han, the drama tells the life of Kim Doo Han with fact and fiction. Kim Doon Han is the son of the great general Kim Jwah Jin, who fought for Korea against the Japanese during World War II. After his dad dies, Kim Doo Han trains in kung pao and learns to be a leader against the evil Japanese. He finds his own position as boss of the Jong Ro area in Seoul, and vows to protect his own Korean people. Goo Ma Juk, the boss of Seoul, fights against Kim Doo Han in an attempt to hand over the whole Seoul area to the Japanese redevelopment project, pursued by Hyashi. Hyashi himself is a Korean but he ironically lives as a Japanese fighting his own people. Through these many barriers, Kim Doo Han struggles to keep the Korean culture alive, later on becoming a politician after the Korean War.

The drama is about the life of the last Korean empress, Empress Myung Sung.
