When the door to another world opens, demons exist there. Ku San Young is possessed by one of those demons. Yeom Hae Sang can see the demon which has possessed Ku San Young. They try to figure out the truth behind the mysterious deaths related to the five sacred objects.

Ku San Young is busy working part-time during the day and studying to become a low-ranking public officer at night. One day, she receives some articles left behind by her late father. Since then, mysterious deaths take place around her. She also finds herself slowly changing.

Yeom Hae Sang comes from a rich background. He teaches Korean folklore at a university. Since he was a child, he has had the special ability to see demons in this world. He even saw his mother killed by a demon in front of him when he was young. Yeom Hae Sang meets Ku San Young and he faces the demon which killed his mother.

Lee Hong Sae is a lieutenant in the violent crimes investigation team. He only cares about advancing his career in the police department. Due to Ku San Young and Yeom Hae Sang, he gets involved in mysterious cases.

An upstanding citizen with a strict moral code, he convinces his son to come forward with the accident instead of covering it up. Joong Shik's life revolves around his mentally handicapped son Boo Nam but his world comes crashing down when his son ends up dead in an accident. Ryun Hwa was with Boo Nam the night he was killed and saw everything firsthand. For some mysterious reason, she disappears without a trace. Both men look for her for two very different reasons and her secret is bound to connect these two men's lives in a harrowing way.

Yeon Heung Bu is an author of popular novels. He writes a novel to find his lost older brother. Heung Bu then meets Jo Hyuk. Jo Hyuk is a nobleman and takes care of people. Heung Bu finds enlightenment from Jo Hyuk. Meanwhile, Jo Hyuk’s older brother is Jo Hang Ri. He is completely different from Jo Hyuk. He will do anything to gain more power. Heung Bu decides to write a story about the brothers Jo Hyuk and Jo Hang Ri.

Heung Bu completes the novel “Heungbu and Nolbu” and the novel is a success. It's popularity soon spreads all across Joseon. Jo Hang Ri takes advantage of the situation and plots to gain absolute power in Joseon.

Under the colonial rule of Japan, 400 or so Koreans who are conscripted into slave labor on 'The Battleship Island', attempt to escape for life. 1944, during the Japanese occupation of Korea, conscripted civilians head out to the Hashima island. Nicknamed 'The Battleship Island' after its resemblance to a war vessel, some are lured by false promises of high wages. LEE, a bandmaster of a jazz bigband and his only daughter, CHOI, a thug, and Mallyeon are among the workers. But upon arrival, they found that the island turns out to be an isolated hell where the workers are forced into slave labor. As the Pacific War nears its end, PARK, a Korean independence activist assigned on a mission to rescue a Korea's spiritual leader from the island. As the U.S. launches massive counterattack on Japan, the Japanese decided to blow up the island in order to bury the truth about their awful treatment of the Korean slave labors. PARK discovers the plan, and conspires with LEE and others for mass escape of all 400 Koreans.

South Korean Navy Special Forces, Captain Jang Hak Soo and 7 members of the KLO (Korean Liasion Office) unit disguise themselves as a North Korean inspection unit and infiltrate the North Korean army command center in Incheon.

Their mission directives from Gen. MacArthur are: 1. Recon enemy forces in Incheon and secure the mine chart, 2. Kidnap ‘Ryu Jang Choon,’ the second highest ranking officer in the North Korean command center, to acquire intel on the naval mine location and 3. On D-Day, light the Palmido light house as a signal to the main UN forces. Only when the light house is lit will General MacArthur initiate the battle to take back Incheon. In 1970s, during the height of political corruption, Gangnam, the southern part of Seoul is starting to be transformed into developed area. Jong-Dae then becomes involved in a struggle of interests over development in Gangnam, Seoul. In the process, he lives with Gil-Soo (Jung Jin-Young) and Sun-Hye (Seol Hyun) as they accept Jong-Dae like a family member. Jong-Dae also becomes a gang member.
