Nara Kenichi is a police officer who is tasked to investigate the disappearance of a 11-year-old girl Ishioka Aoi. It is not known if she was abducted, met with an accident or left home on her own because her parents were about to get divorced. Kenichi takes an exceptional interest in this case as his younger sister Mayuko has been affected emotionally since she was attacked by a man so he desperately wants to prevent something similar from happening.

Inogashira Goro drives from Kyoto to Tokyo with an old, mini car at the end of the year 2021 while encountering various delightful meals throughout the travel.

Tanaka Nozomu is one of the three high school students. People call her "Baka" ("Idiot"). She isn't timid and she can't read between the lines. Her friends are Kikuchi Akane and Saginomiya Shiori . Akane enjoys anime and manga. Shiori is extremely smart, but her emotions have dried up. These three girls are also classmates. Their homeroom teacher is Sawatari Masataka.

April 4, 1959 in the early morning Detective Fujisawa Rokuro of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) was walking his dog along the banks of Tokyo's Musashino district, and found the body of a young woman. Her handbag, an express delivery envelope, and other possession were stil with her, her identity was immediately confirmed as airline stewardess Ikuta Setsuko.
