“Fah Jarot Sai” is a love story set in the desert between a mixed Thai girl named Michelle and Sharif, a royal officer in the made-up kingdom of Hinfara.

Michelle is a mixed orphaned girl who grew up in a convent. When she graduated from school, she followed her best friend Kasfiya to a distant desert kingdom called Hinfara to teach. As soon as they get there, Kasfiya is assigned to the palace to be a lady of the court (i.e. concubine) for King Admed, the ruler of Hinfara. It was foretold by the Royal fortune teller that the woman who will give birth to King Admed’s heir has arrived to Hinfara. Because she already had a lover and the misconception that Michelle was trying to steal her French lover Robert, Kasifya devises a plan to make Michelle her substitute. Following traditional custom of the land, Sharif, the King’s beloved friend/ royal officer will delivery that woman to King Admed.

On the night of the delivery of Michelle to King Admed, Oman, a younger relative of King Admed, created a rebellious uprising and had King Admed executed in front of Sharif.

Sharif was very devastated by the lost, he fought with the rebel army and fled with Michelle into the wide and open desert. Together Sharif and Michelle had to face the dry harsh elements of the desert landscape as they were being hunted down by Oman’s rebel army.

Being together alone and experiencing the difficulties of the desert together, the two began to sympathized with each other. Sympathy and understanding turned into Love. However, their love faced an obstacle because Sharif’s duty to save the throne of Hinfara and to make the kingdom peaceful again.

Nang’ek is an out of luck, poor, orphan girl raised by her money-hungry foster mom, who has a spoiled brat daughter. Her foster mom also has a no-good boyfriend, who on occasion will try to assault nang’ek Rasa.

Nang’ek is the ultimate angel, she is a diligent worker–values education, values hard-work, kind to others, innocent, virginal, not too shabby on the eyes. Though they treat her as an ATM machine, she refuses to abandon her makeshift, foster family because she feels indebted to them. Soon after her mother passed away so did her father, her foster mother took her in when she had no one to turn to. She feels a moral obligation to her evil foster mom who on many occasions will abuse and take advantage of her.

Pra’ek Akrin is a good-looking, rich playboy with charm. He is a heir to a well-known fitness complex called M Fitness. Akrin sees women as a plaything and love as a game. His grandfather Amnat is fed up with his immature, careless, insincere lifestyle and wants him to get married. If he doesn’t get marry by a certain time, he won’t inherit M Fitness. It will be given to his competitive sister, Ornuma, who also has to get marry if she wants to inherit the family business.

As the the marriage deadline slowly approaches and he doesn’t like any of his potential brides, Akrin decides to hire someone as his bride. He hires Rasa, the girl he likes and the only girl in Thailand who has the audacity to reject him every time he makes a move on her. Their marriage will be a sham, it will be for one year and he will pay her 2 million baht ($66,766 USD) total. He will give her 1 million baht at the beginning of their marriage and 1 million baht at the end of their marriage. Rasa accept his offer because she needs the money. Around that time, her foster mother finds herself in the hospital and needs immediate surgery. Thus, this is how their life together begins through a fake marriage.

Fahsai grew up in a family of five, which consisted of her father, paternal grandmother, younger sister and younger brother. Her life was easygoing and no one had any inkling of her father’s financial woes. Fahsai’s true goal and desire is to be a Thai chef. Since she was a child, she grew up around the aromatic spices and has a keen nose and talent for recognizing them. However, her dream came to a screeching halt when she discovered her father’s suicide and learned that poverty was knocking at her door. Her youth and dreams ended abruptly and the audience watch at her attempt to support her family and grow up at the same time. It is easy to shake your head at her naivete, ignorance and even errors in decision making, but one should also remember that she is only a 17 year old girl trying to put the pieces of her life back together. Tum studied abroad for the majority of his life and was sent back to Thailand to handle the family restaurant chain. It appears that he does not have a dream or any personal goals to work towards so he takes on this new task wholeheartedly. Another task fell on his lap that required his utmost attention. It turns out that a girl in his childhood, whom he cherishes and dotes on have grown up all wrong in his opinion. He was disappointed that she would take advantage of her father, scratch his car and cause uproar and trouble wherever she went. Not to mention that she dropped out of school. He took her failures personally and decided that it was his duty to fix her or change her into a responsible adult. So when the opportunity presented itself, that she owed him money, he made her work in his restaurant to pay off the debt.

Pim is the sencond wife's child and daddy's girl. Pim's mother died whe she was child so her father with his parent's agreement, took her into his family's house whereas his first wife and their daugther also lived there. Pim's stepmom and stepsister always ill-treated her and took her as a maid.
