Genghis Kahn built an empire that spanned vast regions in East Asia and East Europe. And there was one woman who held immense power in the Yuan Dynasty, which Genghis Khan founded, for 37 years. Early in his reign, King Se Jong accidentally causes the death of his in-laws and their slaves in an attempt to save them from his brutal father, King Tae Jong. Two young slaves, Ddol Bok and his friend Dam, survive but neither knows the other has. Ddol Bok blames the king and vows to kill him to avenge the deaths of everyone he loved. He spends several years becoming a great warrior. Dam, who has a photographic memory, becomes a court lady called So Yi, but she feels so guilty about her role in the other slaves' deaths that she is mute.

Ddol Bok returns to the palace under the name of Kang Chae Yoon in order to kill the king. However, he becomes embroiled in the mystery surrounding the deaths of several Hall of Worthies scholars. The deaths were caused by a secret society called "Hidden Root," which was created long ago by followers of Jeong Do Jeon, with the goal of giving more power to ministers and less to the king. King Tae Jong killed Jeong Do Jeon and all of his family except his nephew, Jeong Gi Joon, who is now the leader of Hidden Root and lives in disguise not far from King Se Jong.

Eun-Sul applies for job after job, but is passed over because she graduated from a third-rate university and doesn't possess a sparkling resume. In high school, Eun-Sul was notorious for fighting and fighting well. Then one day she decided to live her life the right way. She started to study hard and was able to pass a university entrance exam, even though the university wasn't prestigious. While attending university, Eun-Sul continued to study hard and also worked part-time jobs to pay her tuition fees. Now out in the real world, Eun-Sul finds landing a job extremely difficult.

One day, Eun-Sul receives a phone call and is informed she got the job. Eun-Sul becomes elated, but unbeknownst to her, the company that hired her is a loan sharking firm.

Ji-Hun seems to be the perfect guy. He is from a wealthy family, is physically attractive, and works for the company which his father runs. But actually, Ji-Hun isn't interested in the family's company. Ji-Hun is also frightened to speak in front of others and being around strangers. He has ochlophobia - a fear of crowds, as well as agoraphobia - a fear of having a panic attack and embarrassing oneself. Neither his father nor his grandmother know of his condition. Ji-Hun isn't social because of his phobia and doesn't associate with others at the company. He's also a germaphobe, and appears to be developing more neuroses as manifestations of the anxiety he feels over working for his father, whose main style of parenting, and living, is bullying.

Lee Yoon Sung is a talented MIT-graduate who works on the international communications team in the Blue House. He plans revenge on five politicians who caused his father's death with his surrogate father Lee Jin Pyo and eventually becomes a "City Hunter".

A young woman named Ji Hyun was enjoying absolute bliss as she was about to be married with her fiancé, but her perfect life is shattered in a car accident that left her in a coma. She is given a second chance at life by a reaper, but it comes with a condition: she has to find three people outside of her family who would cry genuine tears for her. In order to do this, she borrows the body of Yi Kyung, a part-time employee at a convenience store.

"Midas" takes place against the backdrop of corporate M & A (mergers and acquisitions).

Kim Do-Hyun (Jang Hyuk) graduated from the top university in South Korea and has now worked as a fund manager for 3 years. He is handsome and good at sports. Do-Hyun is particularly keen with analyzing the situation as it occurs, but his weakness comes from his poor family background. After working 3 years as a fund manager Do-Hyun is all too aware the power money has. Insecure with his situation, Do-Hyun decides to look for a more prestigious job, with better pay.

Yoo In-Hye's (Kim Hee-Ae) is a president for a hedge fund company. Her grandfather was a banker during the Japanese occupation of South Korea. This means her grandfather was on the side of the Japnese. During the Korea War he made lots of money. After the war her grandfather became a money lender and through this made a fortune. By the 1970's he became the most powerful man in the underground economy. Yoo In-Hye's family is now one of the richest families.

Lee Jung-Yeon (Lee Min-Jung) dated Do-Hyun for 6 years and they will get married soon. Whenever she thinks about Do-Hyun, she can't stop smiling. During her middle and high school years Jung-Yeon was a quiet student with ordinary scores, but Do-Hyun appeared in front of her and they began a relationship. She is certain that Do-Hyun loves her. Jung-Yeon also has one thing that Do-Hyun does not have. That is a family.

In 1986, in the province of Gyunggi, in South Korea, a second young and beautiful woman is found dead, raped and tied and gagged with her underwear. Detective Park Doo Man and Detective Cho Yong Koo, two brutal and stupid local detectives without any technique, investigate the murder using brutality and torturing the suspects, without any practical result. Then Detective Seo Tae Yoon from Seoul comes to the country to help the investigations and is convinced that a serial killer is killing the women. When a third woman is found dead in the same "modus-operandi", the detectives find leads of the assassin.

Jeon Jin Ho is a straight guy who is mistaken as gay when he applies to become Park Gae In's roommate. His hobbies include organization and ironing, and he's known for his stoic poker face. In a corner of the neigborhood electronic game room sits Kang-jae (Choi Min-Sik), the man bumming around with a cigarette butt in his mouth. An incident inadvertently forces Kang-jae to sign a life-risking contract with the boss of a major gang, a difficult decision but one that Kang-jae believed would help him return home triumphantly. Then out of the blue, he receives a letter.

"Kang-jae...thank you for everything. With your help, I've been able to continue working in Korea. Everyone here is so kind. But you are the kindest of them all. Because you have married me..."

After a brief moment of confusion, Kang-jae remembers the time when he went through a fake marriage for a few bucks. The warmth Kang-jae was feeling from the letter takes him into unfamiliar territory...
