Park Cha Oh Reum is a newly appointed judge who is assigned to the 44th Civil Affairs Department at the Seoul Central District. She is always on the lookout for injustice and is able to profoundly empathize with others. Compared to her, Im Ba Reun is a cool-headed man of principle with the creed of ‘Court that is equal to all’, and he is displeased with junior judge Park Cha Oh Reum who is overly sympathetic when it comes to cases.

A horrible date rape case shocks the whole country. High school girl Min-ah is raped by a group of boys while her boyfriend is recording the rape scene. The file is spread online being called “Marionette video”, media swarms like bees for this tabloidy topic. Min-ah becomes a victim of not only a sexual crime, but also a violent media pursuit.

Grown-up victim now lives as Seo-rin, a high school teacher after changing her everything. No one knows what she has gone through in the past. However, as he tries to run away, everyone around him is put into dangerous situations, including old friends Dong Kyu, Geum Chul and Sun Young.

Sung Soo is a successful businessman who lives with his wife Min Ji and their 2 children in a luxury apartment. Life is mostly good, except for an older brother from whom he's estranged.

One day, Sung Soo receives a phone call that his brother is missing and goes to his brother's apartment building for the first time in decades to look for him. There, he finds strange symbols carved into every door and meets Joo Hee and her young daughter. Joo Hee is convinced that someone is spying on them and lives in constant fear. Sung Soo figures out that the symbols carved onto the doors are "hide and seek codes" that indicate gender and number of people. Then when he returns home, he finds similar symbols carved into his door.
