Mita Sakura is considered to be weird by her colleagues at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, because she voluntarily works in the unidentified bodies department. About 20,000 unidentified bodies exist in the country and Mita Sakura works on returning these unknown deceased people to their families.

She has a colleague, Tsukimoto Makoto, who works in the same department. They are totally opposite in terms of their personalities and interests. Mita Sakura is bright and warm-hearted, but Tsukimoto Makoto is calm and cold-hearted. They do share the same desire to return these unidentified bodies to their families. To find the identities of these deceased people, they rely on the few clues that are left behind on them.

A story about a group of young people from various educational backgrounds and environments, who fatefully meet at the sea in the middle of summer, and grow up together as they confront with their complex feelings and bottled-up emotions.

Hayami Honoka works in the sales department for a major consumer electronics company. She is excellent at her job and is respected by her colleagues. She seems like a clean freak at work and her colleagues think she is a perfect person to marry. But, in her private life, her home is a complete mess. Things there are unorganized and dirty. On the flip side, when she arrives at work, she looks perfect.

Meanwhile, Yamamoto Chihiro is Hayami Honoka's co-worker in the same department. He joined the company 3 years after Hayami Honoka. When he was a child, Yamamoto Chihiro and his two brothers did the housework at his home, while his mother was busy with her job. Because of this, Yamamoto Chihiro is excellent at doing household chores. Due to a case, he happens to learn that Hayami Honoka's home is a mess. He begins to stay with Hayami Honoka on the condition of doing the house work.

Upon his return to Japan, he helped build up the first modern bank in Japan. He eventually became a founder or supporter to about 500 companies and was involved with about 600 public services, including education for women.

As Miho tries to help her friend, she finds herself in the cursed world behind the "Hell Correspondence".

Mizuki is a university student. Her friend dies in front of her. Meanwhile, Haruo’s younger brother dies. Mizuki and Haruo begin to investigate together. Not at all the type of guy you'd call dependable, Arisugawa nonetheless professes to be the protector of the clumsy Himura. Although these two men appear like they have no business being in crime scenes, they mitigate each other's shortcomings and use their compelling logic to unravel the elaborately woven tricks left behind by the criminals. It's almost as if Himura and Arisugawa use incredible magical powers to tease out unimaginable truths!

Criminologist Himura Hideo seeks the pleasure of murder scenes and announces “I’ve ever wanted to kill a person”. He appears to be a rather dangerous guy who pursues the ultimate crime. His buddy is the somewhat unreliable mystery novel writer Arisugawa Arisu who observes his investigations. His inferences keep missing the mark at times, but he regards himself as Himura’s protector. An unlikely pair for investigation scenes, the two of them make up for each other’s deficiencies as they figure out the complicated and mysterious “tricks” left behind by criminals, with exquisite logic.
