On the morning of a certain Tuesday, a mysterious “death race” is suddenly announced on television. Viewers are enthralled by the excitement of the competition, with participants getting knocked out of the race one after another in unpredictable ways. Meanwhile, survivors refer to a certain guide book for tips on how to succeed. Viewers remain oblivious to the real reason people are participating in such a deadly event—each has fallen into a cruel trap while trying to protect the ones they love.

Forty-two years after her first visit in Tokyo, Mothra returns to warn mankind that they must return Mechagodzilla, along with Godzilla's bones, to the sea, for the dead must not be disturbed. If not, dire consequences will follow. However, Godzilla is once again on the rampage, and Mechagodzilla is Japan's only defense.

Natsuki Morishita (Shokichi) suddenly lost his parents when he was young. After that, he lived at his relative’s home, but he wasn't happy living there and he ran away. Natsuki then lived on the streets of the big city. Through a lot of struggles, Natsuki is finally able to open a small store. His childhood friend Wataru Okajima (Naoto) then appears in front of him. Natsuki Morishita and Wataru Okajima get swept up by friendship, betrayal and desires.

Toramaru, lord of integrated martial arts Mugen-ga-ryu, ends his training journey and visits his master, Gensai. "You have to duel with every martial arts master and win, in order to obtain their esoteric books of martial secrets." Receiving such an order from Gensai, Toramaru makes a pilgrimage around Japan and spends a year fighting. Through his fights with genuine masters in every martial arts such as kung-fu, stick fighting, sword fighting, and nunchaku, this film passionately tells what "Budo" is and what Bushido is. Joe Yabuki is an aimless young man who runs away from an orphanage with no money and no place to stay. He runs into a former boxing trainer, Danpei, who still has a strong passion for boxing. Danpei watches Joe fight and regains his desire to train future boxers. Joe, however, does not have any interest in boxing until he ends up in a juvenile prison where he meets Rikiishi, a former boxing prodigy. They quickly develop a rivalry, and a newfound interest in boxing overcomes everybody in prison, including Joe.

This movie takes place in an alternate universe (where its storyline could be considered a prequel to the events of the TV series). In 1999, an enormous meteor crashed onto Earth carrying extra-terrestrial creatures. In order to counter this new threat, ZECT was formed. Seven years later, in the year 2006, power struggles in ZECT have caused a new group, known as Neo-ZECT. With three groups in existence (Neo-ZECT, ZECT and the Worms), Tendou has decided to sell his power to either Neo-ZECT or ZECT, but his intentions are unclear. ZECT reveal a plan to save humanity, but unknown to other is a plot to destroy man kind.

Yuka Misaki, whose parents run a flower shop, casually begins dating college student Akio Asami, and later falls for him. But due to some type of accident, the two lose contact with one another.

One year after the accident, the two suddenly meet again. Yuka is still working at her father Shigeo's flower shop, and Akio is a teacher at a nearby high school.

It's January 7, just right after the New Year begins. Makeup classes are being held for students that aren't keeping up with their daily studies. Taking the classes are the popular Tadashi Otomo, and the leader of the delinquent students, Sho Takamatsu. And giving the lecturers is Noriko Sekiya, a teacher that has taken out all kinds of loans to pay for the popular brand items that she buys.

Yuka comes to the school to collect money from Noriko. While at the school, with thoughts of the past in the back of her mind, Yuka and Akio meet and get into a fight. Then all of a sudden, there is a small tremor, and after it subsides.
