Hiroshige Akihisa works for a karaoke company. When he is interviewed about the past 30 years of Japanese music industry, he gets confused when he is asked about his high school student days. An incident happened 29 years ago that caused him to suppress his memories that have now come back.

On March 20, 1995, the Tokyo subway sarin attack took place. At that time, Akihisa was a high school student who got good grades and was well mannered, but the Tokyo subway sarin attack led him to face the death of someone he knew and shook his world. Around that time, he was suddenly called out by his classmate Suzuki Shotaro, whom he wasn't very close to. Shotaro asked him if he wanted to live vacantly into his adulthood and then die? Would he be happy living that type of life? Akihisa then joined Shotaro’s group and hanged out with them in Shibuya. One day, Shotaro is attacked by someone. Akihisa decides to take revenge on the attacker and begins to search for him.

Sayama Taku is a doctor and runs Sayama Kodomo Clinic, which specializes in child psychiatry. Even though his family owns a general hospital, he refuses to get involved in their general hospital. Instead, Sayama Taku has taken over the small clinic, located in the suburbs, which his aunt operated. His family views his behavior as an act of betrayal. Sayama Taku's personal reason for running the clinic is because he has ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and he understands the patients at his clinic more than anyone. He values the time he has to face the child patients.

Tono Shiho is a medical intern at Sayama Kodomo Clinic. When she worked as a medical intern in the pediatrics department of a university hospital, she kept getting into trouble and her preceptor finally told her to give up on becoming a pediatrician. Making things worse, she learned that she has ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). She thought about giving up on becoming a doctor. At that time, Sayama Taku reached out to her and let her work at his clinic.

She is happy in her imaginary world, but, by meeting Takano and Shibamoto, her peaceful & happy days are swayed.

Takeuchi Ryoma suddenly gets a break from filming dramas and movies and visits a spice shop. After he tells the female owner that he wants to make a spice curry, she coaches him on the spices. Sometime later, the Yoshies gave birth to their daughter Misa. Ryuichi and Ryuji enjoyed pleasant days with their adopted parents and younger sister Misa. When Ryuichi and Ryuji were 15-years-old, their parents experienced extremely dark days because of Genpei Kirishima, who ran a competing shipping company.

Genpei Kirishima tried to expand his business nationwide at this time and he tried to deprive business of the company owned by the Yoshies. Due to Genpei Kirishima, the Yoshies fell into heavy debt and eventually killed themselves. Ryuichi and Ryuji vowed to get revenge on Genpei Kirishima.

7 years later, Ryuichi has become a new person through plastic surgery and using someone else's identity. He takes part in the criminal world. Meanwhile, Ryuji works for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, to supervise shipping companies.

High school students, Shun and Nagisa first meet and fall in love with each other during their first year. Years later around the time Shun is about to graduate from university, Nagisa tells him that he can't see a future with him. They make the decision to break up despite Shun’s still strong feelings. Years later, Shun lives alone in a rural area, working as the owner of his own store. But what happens when Nagisa unexpectedly shows up with his 6-year-old daughter Sora, and Shun still harbours feelings for Nagisa. As they begin spending time with each other, can Nagisa accept the feelings he knows have been there all along.

Matsumoto Shouen entered monkhood because he could not rescue his childhood friend who was drowning right in front of him when he was a kid. As Shouen grapples with how he should save lives, attend to deaths and support the families of patients, he grows as a doctor, a monk and a person.

Mio is 20-years-old. Her grandmother, who raised her instead of her late parents, is hospitalized. Mio leaves her hometown and goes to Tokyo to find a new job. She has a hard time adapting to life in Tokyo. Mio takes a job at a public bathhouse in an old shopping district. While working at the bathhouse, she interacts with the people in the area and begins to enjoy her time in Tokyo. Mio hears that the shopping district will be demolished.

He also tells her how he feels about her, but Mamizu Watarase’s death is approaching.

In Tokyo, Chiwawa is a popular girl. One day, her dead body is found in Tokyo Bay. Her body are in pieces. Chiwawa's friends gather to remember her, but they realize they do not know anything about her like her real name or her background.

Rara Suzuki lives in a small town in Gunma Prefecture with her patient mom and reclusive younger brother Ruruo. With zero recreational options beyond playing pachinko and shopping at department stores, she has become a YouTuber to keep from going crazy, though from the online evidence, including her plastic-flower eyepatch and air of perpetual boredom, Rara is decidedly odd. Nonetheless, she attracts the attention of a reality TV show director who descends on the town with a script already in her head.

The 17-year-old Yatabe Mineko grew up in a family of seven in a mountain village in northeastern Ibaraki Prefecture. Her father Minoru has gone to Tokyo to work in order to earn extra money. However, her life completely changes when her father does not come back for the New Year. Mineko asks her family to let her go to Tokyo to find him and promises to send money home. In the autumn of 1964, she and two childhood friends Tokiko and Mitsuo are hired to start working at a small factory in Tokyo’s working class neighborhood. After work each day, Mineko searches for her father and gets disheartened at times. Mineko overcomes challenges and starts to lay down roots in Tokyo as she experiences many meetings and farewells amid the laughter and tears with regulars, people of the shopping street, friends, and colleagues. But will she be able to find her father?

"Aozora Yell" tells a story of a high school girl named Tsubasa Ono who saw an inspirational brass band performance at the finals of the Japanese high school baseball championships one summer. Tsubasa vows to join the band when she enters high school, and she happens to meet a certain boy there.
