Three high school students all have a crush on Haru. After school, they follow Haru secretly until she gets home safe. When she is released, she returns to the company of her gangster boyfriend Nishioka, and they proceed to make life miserable for Hikari, beating him and blackmailing him with nude photos so that he will not tell the police of their criminal activity which involves a stash of stolen gold buried under the ice. Based on a novel by one of Japan's greatest writers, Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Nobuhiro Yamashita's The Matsugane Potshot Affair is definitely of the black variety and contains a decapitated head, kinky sex between unequal partners, family members shouting at one another, blackmail, rat poison, and other oddities that may make you simply shrug and say, “alrighty then”. Unlike the novel which merely indicted the ineptitude of twin brothers, “Matsugane Potshot” convicts an entire town of gross stupidity.

Ishikawa Tsubame and Sakamoto Marin are first-year students at a university for aspiring navigators. The two girls join a month-long practical training aboard a vessel for their first test as freshmen in an environment where 80% are boys. They have to cope with the gruelling training and unimaginable seasickness as they struggle together with the male students.

Takeno Seigi runs "Koi no Mi", a nearly bankrupt cake shop in a shuttered shopping street. Since he was a child, he had loved the cakes his father made, and together with his wife, Aya, he inherited the shop from his parents, whom he lost at an early age. However, he ends up resorting to committing evil deeds in order to protect his cherished shop and family.

Honma Kai and Ichinose Jiro are cadets at the police academy. Honma is the intellectual type who places emphasis on theory. A serious A-student born with excellent memory, he developed analytical skills at the academy and his skills at profiling began to blossom. He might seem like he does not care but he will not give up on people in need. On the other hand, Ichinose is the emotional and physical type. He is a fearless fighter whom even people with martial arts experience will dodge because of his boundless physical strength. Although his somewhat goofy way of speaking and thinking confuses the people around him, he is an honest, kind-hearted guy who will be the first to help when anyone who is in trouble. He asks Moriyama to authorise the surgery and for support from all surgeons. However, Moriyama dismisses his request because the risk is high. Sagara gives encouragement to an anxious Fumie. At the same time, he gets Shibuya Shoko, a medical representative of drug company SI, to obtain the contact of Tanabe, a former House of Representative member of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. What is Sagara’s scheme?
