Ding Yi Ke has been down in luck. Despite the fact that she isn't getting any younger, she experiences failures in love and in the workplace. She joins a reality show to prove herself and lands a job at a profession that is completely foreign to her. As a rookie buyer, she clashes with fashion extraordinaire Zhao Mo Yuan. They become instant frenemies but the trials they encounter eventually pave the way for them to find their place in the industry.

The film tells the story of a near future in which the earth is irreversibly sandy, as human emissions and rubbish exceed its carrying capacity. As plants and animals mutate to create the Earth’s new masters, the “sand worms”, which are slaughtering the planet and driving humans to the brink of extinction, the survivors are left to their own devices to find the only remaining refuge in the deep desert, the “Oasis”. An exiled team of wealthy businessmen, scientists, security chiefs, mechanic families and gangsters set out on an adventure to find the Oasis in a special armoured vehicle, but the bloodthirsty insects are hot on their heels.

Legend says that the eternal night is approaching and that a calamity will befall humanity. After Sang Sang's identity is discovered, Ning Que does everything he can to protect her.

Ning Que (Arthur Chen) is a soldier who travels to the capital with his servant Sang Sang (Song Yiren) to seek justice for the untimely deaths of his entire family. The movie is set in Shanghai in the early Republican era. He meets Bao, who falls in love with him, but Cheng's true love is actually his childhood friend Ye Zhiqiu, who has gone missing.

Many years later, a middle-aged Cheng has become one of the most notorious and powerful triad bosses in Shanghai, even surpassing his old boss Hong Shouting. However, he finds himself caught up in the struggle between the aggressive Empire of Japan, which is planning to invade China, and the local secret service led by the crafty Mao Zai, who saved his life many years ago. He also encounters his old flame Ye Zhiqiu again, but she is now married to another man.
