Three years ago, police officer Liu Yuanwen sends back wrong intelligence, seemingly causing the death of his fiancée and fellow police officer Rong Yu. He also loses a friend in Rong Yao , his brother-in-law-to-be and member of the drug task force. Disheartened by all the events, Liu Yuanwen resigns from his position and cuts off all contact.

In the present time, Rong Yao has been promoted to leader of the task force, and is ordered to provide ongoing support and resources to the sole undercover operative in Group K, a drug cartel led by the ‘Spectre’ Mr. Ou. Turns out the undercover Mu Qing is actually Liu Yuanwen, and the pair must work together to bring the criminals to justice.

The peaceful existence of an ordinary family is disrupted by the arrival of a mysterious nanny. This is a story about unraveling a truth that has been kept secret for many years.

Twenty years ago, Wu Lihua (Rong Rong) who works at the hospital discovers an abandoned baby. Wu Lihua and her husband Liu Ruobing (Liu Rui) decide to raise the baby. One day, Wu Lihua encounters a child that has been rushed to the hospital in need of emergency care. Because his mother Li Yuwen (Gong Xiaorong) did not have money, Wu Lihua uses her own money to pay for the surgery.

Through an unexpected turn of events, Li Yuwen arrives at the Liu household as the new nanny. Li Yuwen has dreams in the literary field, which earns the support of Liu Ruobing who helps her become a writer. The act of kindness does not go unnoticed as Wu Lihua starts to become suspicious. Is Li Yuwen a sheep wearing wolf's clothing or is she as good as she appears?

A story that revolves around the anti-Japanese occupation and follows Bai Niansheng, a man from the pugilistic world who fight to save his countrymen.

The Japanese army began their invasion of China in 1937. Niansheng (Yang Yang) who was raised by an abbot is forced to come down from the mountains to take revenge for his master after he was murdered in the hands of the Wu Hu Clan. Along the way, he saves Han Meiyu (Zhang Jiani) from harm and an extraordinary relationship develops between the two. Tang Si Ye (Lian Yiming), the leader of the Loyalty Hall, and Li Shaofei (Niu Baojun), a member of the Communist party, chance upon mass killings launched by the Japanese to recover the formula for a biological weapon.

Sui Tang Yanyi begins in the 580s with the conquest of the Chen dynasty (557-589) by the Sui dynasty under Emperor Wen, and concludes with the return of the Tang dynasty's Emperor Xuanzong to the capital Chang'an in 758 near the end of the An Lushan Rebellion (755-763).

The plot is made up of three main story lines.

The first, with Emperor Yang of Sui and his concubine Zhu Gui'er (朱貴兒) as the central characters, covers the events in the political arena and inner palace in the final years of the Sui dynasty.

The second story line narrates a turbulent period known as the transition from Sui to Tang, when heroes such as Qin Shubao,Shan Xiongxin (單雄信), Cheng Yaojin (程咬金) and Xu Maogong rise up to overthrow the Sui dynasty, followed by stories of how Li Shimin (the future Emperor Taizong of Tang) defeated his rivals and eventually solidified the Tang dynasty's sovereignty over China.

The last story line tells of the romance between Emperor Xuanzong of Tang and Consort Yang, and the events of the An Lushan Rebellion.

The story takes place in northern China in early 1945 in a small town - Mission City. The story depicts its main characters during the Japanese invasion.
