Mizuki is a marathon runner forced to hang up her running shoes and find a job in the “real world.” She's been laser-focused on running her whole life and developed very little in the way of social skills, totally neglecting any thoughts of a love life. Her love for sweet food is the only thing that brings her joy.

When Mizuki takes a job at a high-end hotel, she turns out to be hopeless at it. With no experience or natural talent for customer service, she makes gaffe after gaffe. One day, she crosses paths with Kaji, a genius pâtissière who works at the hotel and has a reputation as a womanizer. Infuriated at how badly her post-running life is turning out, Mizuki vents at Kaji. Iinstead of angering him, her tirade inspires Kaji, who appoints her as his new taste taster.

One day, Yayoi happens to see Tamura Takuro's sketchbook. The sketchbook contains countless sketches of a woman that Yayoi doesn't know. That woman is Yumiko. Yumiko was Tamura Takuro's Japanese language teacher and his homeroom teacher when he was a 17-year-old high school student. He loved his homeroom teacher.

Yoshino Hikari has a bright and friendly personality. She works at a credit association in her hometown. To pursue her dream of doing pet related work, she moves to Tokyo and begins to work at a pet salon. Unfortunately, the pet salon goes bankrupt. Bailiff Obara Itsuki carries out his work at the pet salon and becomes impressed with Yoshino Hikari. Obara Itsuki is not comfortable around dogs, but all the animals seem to like Yoshino Hikari. Due to Obara Itsuki, Yoshino Hikari begins to work as a bailiff assistant and teams up with Obara Itsuki.

Meanwhile, Kurihashi Yusuke is a clerk at the bailiffs’ office. He used to work at a bank and wants to become a lawyer. While working at the bailiffs’ office, Kurihashi Yusuke learns about the law. He develops unexpected feelings for Yoshino Hikari.

Creating a portrait of sensitive teens and their concerns, Kaneko Yurina’s adaptation of Omae Ao’s novel takes us into the midst of the Plushy Club at a university. It is a place packed with furry and comforting friends whom the club members talk to in order to relay their anxieties and fears. Male student Nanamori and female students Shiraki, and Mugito are the latest club intake, each wrestling with issues such as love, masculinity and femininity, fear of others and sexism in society.

Soma Ito is a high school student in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. She has a talent for playing Tsugaru-shamisen. The music is native to Aomori Prefecture and involves the traditional folk instrument Tsugaru-shamisen, which is a plucked three-string instrument. Ito learned to play Tsugaru-shamisen from her now-deceased mother. Due to her strong Tsugaru dialect and her shy personality, she has a hard time playing in public and also experiences difficulty in social settings. She doesn't have any friends. To change herself, Ito begins a part-time job at a maid cafe. Her father Koichi watches anxiously over her, while she works her new job. By meeting various people, Ito begins to grow as a person.

Shibusawa Eiichi was born in 1840 to a farmer’s family. He grew up helping his family with work, which was to manufacture and sell indigo production and also silk farming. He left his hometown at the age of 23 and began working for the government. He later traveled to Paris and learned about banking. Upon his return to Japan, he helped build up the first modern bank in Japan. He eventually became a founder or supporter to about 500 companies and was involved with about 600 public services, including education for women.

Kurihara Kiyokazu and Satoko are a married couple. They do not have children. They learn about plenary adoption and adopt a baby son. 6 years later, the couple live happily with their son Asato. They receive a phone call from a woman, who introduces herself as Katakura Hikari. She is Asato's birth mother. She tells them she wants her son back, but, if she can't, she wants money.

Kiyokazu and Satoko met Hikari one time in the past. At that time, Hikari was 14 years old. She was a nice girl, who gave them a letter for baby Asato. But when Kiyokazu and Satoko meet Hikari again, there is no image of Hikari as a nice girl anymore. Who is she? What is her purpose?

Rosuke Narumi (Sho Sakurai) works at a trading company and he is pretty good at his job. He dates Satoko Matsubara (Mikako Tabe). The trading company has a business relationship with a private high school experiencing some difficulties. One day, Rosuke Narumi is appointed as the principle of the private high school. Rosuke Narumi soon discovers how different the work environment is from his previous job.

So the school can run in the black, Rosuke Narumi implements cost cutting measures. School staff members including Chihiro Mashiba (Yu Aoi) oppose his plan.

Toyama Kinshiro is a 30-year-old newly-appointed police chief at Kitamachi Police Station who firmly believes his mission as a policeman is to listen to every voice of innocent citizens and protect the peace in the community. He comes off as aloof and a bit quirky at first, but in fact he has brilliant investigative instincts and spots clues that no one else can detect. Unlike his elite career bureaucrat colleagues, Kinshiro doesn't dress or act like a stereotypical Chief Police. Rather than sitting behind a desk, Kinshiro leaves the office and literally goes around town to do the investigation work, and go the extra mile to solve any crime regardless how small or trivial. However, his unorthodox approach generates a lot of antagonism from his subordinates at Kitamachi Police Station.
