Seok Woo, his estranged daughter Soo An, and other passengers become trapped on a KTX train (high-speed train) heading from Seoul to Busan during a disastrous virus outbreak in South Korea.

Heo Moo Hyeok, a reporter from the social issues department happens to acquire information about a serial murder case by accident. This makes him get involved in an unprecedented case of inaccurate reporting. He later finds himself facing the actual murder case in the middle of the aggressive news coverage competition by media, which does not get any better.

What would you do if you woke up with a new face every day? Woo Jin, a man who designs furniture for a living, is used to this. In 1970s, during the height of political corruption, Gangnam, the southern part of Seoul is starting to be transformed into developed area. Childhood friends Jong Dae and Yong Ki struggled to get by, until their shanty homes are demolished by local thugs. Desperate for cash, they get involved in violent political clashes, and are separated during one for the skirmishes.3 years later, Jong Dae lives as an honest man with former gang leader Kil Su. Meanwhile, Yong Ki has joined Seoul’s most powerful criminal gangs organization, the Myeongdong-pa and as a member he has been entangled in a high stakes battle over lands in Gangnam, all in the name of putting together secret presidential election funds that drive up the value of the city. As the gangs fight over the rights to various plots, Yong Ki is captured and interrogated by a rival gang.

Jong-Dae (Lee Min-Ho) and Yong-Ki (Kim Rae-Won) grew up in an orphanage like real brothers. After they leave the orphanage, they make a living by picking up paper and empty bottles. Jong-Dae then becomes involved in a struggle of interests over development in Gangnam, Seoul. In the process, he lives with Gil-Soo (Jung Jin-Young) and Sun-Hye (Seol Hyun) as they accept Jong-Dae like a family member. Jong-Dae also becomes a gang member.

Ji Hyeok is an elite safe-cracker and counterfeiter. He works with Koo In who introduces him to elite hacker Jong Bae. There's rumors that Jong Bae has betrayed other partners in his past. Nevertheless, the trio decide to work together to steal valuable diamonds held within a secret vault at a high-end jewelry store. The jewelry store is owned by President Jo. Meanwhile, President Jo is in search of an elite safe-cracker to help him steal millions of dollars stored within a Korean customs area in Incheon, South Korea.

In 1998, the fishing vessel Jeonjiho goes out to sea to catch fish. The ships fails to catch fish as they hoped. The ship's owner then informs Captain Kang that he is going to sell the ship. Captain Kang can't let that happen and decides to buy the boat himself, but he is unable to get financing anywhere. Captain Kang then agrees to transport Chinese-Korean stowaways from the sea back to the port. The other crew members including Dong Shik and Chang Wook are freaked out about the captain's plan, but they agree to go along with it.

During a stormy night, the fishing vessel Jeonjiho stops in the middle of ocean and allows another boat to transfer its stowaways onto their ship. A young woman, Hong Mae, falls into the ocean, but Dong Shik jumps into the water to save her. Their nightmare journey begins.
