Time is the story of Seh-hee and Ji-woo, a young couple two years into their relationship. Though he never acts on his impulses Ji-woo has something of a roving eye and Seh-hee is intensely jealous and fearful that Ji-woo will soon lose interest and leave her. Believing that Ji-woo is bored with seeing the same, boring her all the time Seh-hee takes drastic action, leaving him without warning and having drastic cosmetic surgery, taking on a new face, which she hopes to use to snare him again, under an assumed identity, once she has healed. But when Ji-woo shows interest in this new and "improved" Seh-hee it triggers only more self doubt and loathing. After all, he may love the 'new' girl, but does this mean that he has rejected the old? Seh-hee is utterly trapped in her own insecurities, a situation that prompts Ji-woo to take drastic action of his own.

Korea, 1724. Once upon a time in the Joseon Dynasty, Chun-doong (Lee Jung-jae) meets a beautiful woman while in the middle of a fight in an old market. Having fallen in love at first sight, good fortune is with him and he finds her once again. Her name is Seol-ji (Kim Ok-bin) and she works as a gisaeng, a Korean traditional singing and dancing girl. They spend a memorable night together but Chun-doong loses her again when she moves to work at another bar. When he finds her new hiding place, however, he is warned away by her new manager, Man-deuk (Kim Suk-hoon) who has connections in the city's underworld. One day, while still despondent without Seol-ji in his life, he accidentally knocks over and kills the boss of the Jjak-gwi gang. Before he knows it, because of his fighting skills Chun-doong becomes the replacement boss. Soon, there is a gathering of the region's gang bosses at the bar where Seol-ji now works. In the middle of the meeting, Chun-doong causes a disturbance to steal Seol-ji away under the nose of Man-deuk. The meeting turns into chaos because of the incident and ends abruptly. A furious Man-deuk teams up with rival gangsters to plot the downfall of the Jjak-gwi gang..

Anna Jo is a rude, feisty, and audacious American-bred heiress who can never be satisfied. She returns to Korea only to continue being a controlling wife to her already cowardly husband, Billy Park.

When her yacht gets stuck for repairs, she hires local handyman Jang Chul Soo to fix her shower, but when they have a heated spat over her dissatisfaction and non payment, she pushes him overboard and dunks his tools into the ocean right along with him. Later, after a quarrel with Billy that threatens to end their marriage, she herself gets drunkenly pitched overboard and falls victim to a bad case of amnesia.

Chun Ji Ae and Yang Bong Soon are high school classmates who did not have the best relationship with each other. Yong Woo is someone that often gets into arguments with patients who want to undergo unnecessary plastic surgery. Hong Ki Nam is the nurse who forms a love triangle between the two men. Yoon Seo Jin is the manager who obtained her perfect beauty through plastic surgery.

Eun Ah Ri Young (Jang Seo Hee) is a successful drama writer with a scarred past. When her father had an affair with another lady and left the family, her brother died and her mother became blind. Hating her father her whole childhood, she grows up to plan revenge on her father's new family. Her father's new wife, Shim Soo Jung (Han Hye Sook) is a popular actress. Ah Ri Young writes a drama about the affair and her blind mother, and casts Shim Soo Jung in the role of her blind mother in order so that Soo Jung will feel guilt. Ah Ri Young also plans to steal her stepsister (Woo Hee Jin)'s fiancee (Kim Sung Min). A guy she only chose for revenge becomes a guy she truely loves, and that love confuses her feelings for revenge. Jo Soo Ah (Go Doo Shim), her mother's friend, helps in the revenge because she wants Ah Ri Young to become her son (Jung Bo Suk)'s wife. As one person's plan for revenge starts, many people will become hurt, and the true meaning of forgiveness and understanding is learned.
