Two identical twins, Han Soo Ho and Han Kang Ho, look exactly alike but lead entirely different lives. Han Soo Ho is a respectable judge who does everything by the book, while Han Kang Ho is not only a convicted criminal but a repeat offender. When Han Soo Ho suddenly disappears, Han Kang Ho ends up taking his brother’s place and living a new life as a judge.

Hae Won Maek, Gang Rim, and Duk Choon are about to take part in Soo Hong’s trial. However, to secure a trial, they are tasked with bringing the soul of an old man who is protected by House God within 49 days. Gang Rim accompanies Soo Hong, while Hae Won Maek and Duk Choon go down into the human world, where they discover that the House God knows of their forgotten previous lives.

Heo Im, who is born in a concubine family in Joseon era and has very outstanding medical skill, is frustrated about his career as he fails to climb to higher positions in the government because of his background. By accident, he travels through time to modern Seoul 400 years later and meets modern doctor Yeon Gyung. Thinking that Heo Im is weird, she hopes to get rid of Heo Im but instead, they travel back to Joseon together again.

To avoid invading Japanese forces, King Seon Jo leaves for the Ming Dynasty and abandons his people in the process. In his place, Prince Gwang Hae leads the royal court. Meanwhile, To Woo leads the Daerip forces that consist of those who are paid to serve in the military on behalf of others.

The specifically Korean tradition that is reclaimed in Sopyonje is the type of folk-song known as pansori, described as a musical sublimation of South-West Korea's collective grief and suffering - in other words, a kind of blues. The film's three central characters are itinerant pansori singers in the 1950s, a time when many aspects of Korean culture came under siege from Japanese and western influences. The story unfolds through flashbacks. A man named Dong-ho is roaming the rural hinterlands, ostensibly to find rare herbal medicines for his sick son back in Seoul, but actually in search of Song-hwa, the woman he grew up with. Orphans, they were both apprenticed to the pansori master Yu-bong (played by the film's writer, Kim Myung-gon) who pressured them to sacrifice everything for the art.

In Joseon Dynasty, immaculately dressed in scholarly robes, the young nobleman Kim Sung Ryeol lives as a vampire to keep his promise to his friends. When Sung Ryeol still was a human, he found out about the vampire Gwi who sits above the King deciding the next royal line and has resurrected as a vampire trying to fight against Gwi. And now, he is living as a guardian vampire fighting against the evil vampire without losing his human nature.

In the year 1597, when the Joseon Dynasty faces imminent ruin by the Japanese, disgraced Admiral YI Sun Shin is summoned as a last resort to lead the kingdom’s remaining 12 ships and an army of doubtful soldiers against the Emperor’s 330 strong fleets.

Lee Kang To is an ambitious and callous Korean officer employed by the Japanese colonists. Despite his mother's disapproval of his work and his own brother's antagonistic history with the Japanese, Kang To continues to play by the colonist's rules in hopes of becoming successful and bringing his family out of poverty. However, a mysterious figure wearing a traditional Bridal Mask always seems to get in Kang To's way. The Bridal Mask appears as a Zorro-like figure who protects the people from the Japanese colonists' oppression and abuse of power. An unexpected turn events brings Kang To to cross paths with the mysterious Bridal Mask, changing his future and the nation's history forever.

This film revolves around the life of Choi Shi Hyong, head of the religious sect, Chondogyo, in the later part of the Chosun Kingdom. He is constantly sought and harassed by the authorities. In 1864, Choi Jeh Woo, the reformist and founder of the Chondogyo sect is executed on charges of 'deluding the world and deceiving the people'. His successor, Choi Shi Hyong, begins to receive a ground swell of support from an increasing number of people. He then finds himself the subject of oppression by the court. He is separated from his family and goes to hide in a hermitage in the Taeback Mountains. With the belief that his wife is dead, Choi burns the tablet dedicated to her and flees to an even more remote region of the mountains.
