This drama is based on Chinese novel “Bu Bu Jing Xin” by Tong Hua which was originally published online in 2005 on Jinjiang Original Network. The novel also adapted into the chinese television series “Scarlet Heart” which was aired in Hunan Broadcasting System (HBS) from 2011-Sep-10 to 2011-Sep-29 and also “Scarlet Heart 2” which was aired in Zhejiang STV (ZJTV) from 2014-Apr-22 to 2014-May-07.

This drama was fully pre-produced before airing which is a departure from the live-shoot production format that characterizes most Korean dramas. The Filming Began on 2016-Jan and Completed on 2016-June-30. The series will be simulcast in China.

When a total eclipse of the sun takes place, a 21st-century woman, Go Ha Jin, is transported back in time to the Goryeo Dynasty of Korea. She wakes up in the body of 16-year-old Hae Soo, an aristocrat living with Lady Hae, her cousin who happens to be married to one of the sons of King Taejo. She soon befriends several of the princes, who find her carefree and exuberant attitude refreshing. Although she knows she should not get involved in palace intrigues over the succession to the throne, she inadvertently becomes a pawn in the struggle, as several of the Princes fall in love with her.

The Great Seer begins during the reign of King Gongmin. But despite being about seers, geomancers, divinators and the like, this drama is less about the fantasy and more about the political movers and shakers — people who had the power to advise, and therefore control, kings. Ji Jin-hee plays Yi Seong-gye, the general who led the overthrow of Goryeo and established the Joseon Dynasty, becoming its first king. Mok Ji-sang (Ji Sung) is a gifted seer/geomancer, born with the ability to see into people’s pasts and futures. There are those who believe falsely that he has dark supernatural powers, thinking him possessed by ghosts. When he comes of age in the late Goryeo era, he becomes a scholar of divination, and a reader of geography, faces, and the like to tell fortunes — an area with much influence at the time. He eventually becomes a "king-maker," who holds the key to a major political shift in the overthrow of Goryeo and the rise of Joseon when he backs General Yi and effectively shapes the future of Korea as we know it.[1] Kim So-yeon plays a healer whose destiny is tied to General Yi, but she falls in love with the seer. And Song Chang-ui plays the rival advisor. Lee Yoon-ji joins the cast as Ban-ya, a woman who was sold off as a gisaeng at a young age, but becomes a concubine to King Gongmin’s advisor, and bears a son. King Gongmin takes in that son as his, and the boy becomes King Woo of Goryeo — the king that General Yi dethrones in a coup d’état. 

Seven orphaned brothers and sisters who have closer ties than blood family are compared to a blood-tied family that is being broken by its own greed to think about the true meaning of family and happiness.

The story mainly revolves around Jang Ha Bin/Kim Baek Won, a girl who grows up to be a police woman and Do Young, a boy who grows up to be a prosecutor. He falls in love with her again after she broke his heart in the past.

The second season follows the same format of the first season, with different girl group members and took place in a fishing village in Daebu Island, Ansan, Gyeonggi Province.

There, she becomes friends with the playboy Goo Yong Ha and rebellious Moon Jae Shin.

Park Tae-joon is an intelligent law student and a filial son to his parents who runs a mill. His has a younger brother, Tae-soo not quite as academic still quite smart and a known brat in town, and a younger sister, the kind and gentle hearted Sun-hee. From the same town as Tae-Joon, Kim Mi-ja, his love interest is sick and tired of living in poverty and desires to leave their small town for a better life.
