Aki is given a severe admonition by Riko and sheds tears of frustration and disappointment. The next day, Aki suggests doing an event with a popular effeminate male talent who has published a novel based on his own life, in an attempt to make up for her mistake. Although they have just a few days for preparation, she uses her connections, determines his schedule and forces the event through. As the book store staff are complaining one after another, Aki requests to change her afternoon shift despite the event being a day away. However, the next morning, Riko receives a phone call from Aki who says that she cannot come to work. Riko soothes the angry staff and everyone spends their time with preparations until late at night in order to make the event a reality. On the day of the event, when Aki goes to greet the male talent in the waiting room, he suddenly says, “Cancel the event!” … … Aki is a well-off girl who joined Pegasus Bookshop through connections. Yanagi Kenta had quit his job with a big chemical firm, to succeed the family's laundry business 3 years ago. At that time, he had divorced his wife, Saeko too. Kishi Minetaro is a skilled and serious-minded plastic surgeon. He looks down on doctors earning money through cosmetic surgeries as well as on women asking for such medical procedures. However, having to repay his father's debt, Minetaro chooses lucrative work at a clinic specializing in aesthetic plastic surgery.

The clinic is full of beautiful women, including the director Yukawa Mari, who is well known for her skills in breast reconstruction, a highly-trusted doctor Ichii Mutsumi, and a cheerful nurse Kishitani Aoi. Tales of the Unusual: A four-part anthology in the spirit of The Twilight Zone, this film starts off with a group of commuters stranded at a train station in the rain, listening to stories told by one of the group. These include tales of a group stranded in the mountains and haunted by guilt over a death they inadvertently caused, an emotionally broken chessmaster pressed into playing a real-life game for an eccentric millionaire, a wandering medieval samurai who finds a modern-day cell phone on the ground and a person on the other end asking questions about the past, and a young couple who agree to try a computer simulation of what their future as husband and wife would be like.

Upon getting thrown out of his girlfriend Fujiko's apartment, Hiromi (Sorimachi) decides to head for the ocean. En route, he crosses paths with Kaito (Takenouchi), an elite employee of a large multinational trading company in Tokyo who is running away from his problems at work after losing a key client. The two stumble into a quiet B&B on the beach run by the aging surfer Masaru and his high-school-aged granddaughter Makoto. Hiromi immediately applies to work there for the summer, and Kaito is forced to join him after he loses his wallet. The two share a room, with Hiromi trying to make friends, and Kaito at first resisting, unimpressed by Hiromi's devil-may-care attitude. Slowly over the ensuing episodes, Kaito becomes more and more at home in this sleepy rural town, and begins to wonder if he should give up his pursuit of success in the big city, and try to relax, and enjoy himself more. When he returns to Tokyo to finish his work, Hiromi and Makoto come to lure him back, but when he returns to the B&B, his boss and girlfriend Sakura likewise come looking for him.
